Sorry if Im not doing this right but I'm really confused by this site and not sure what the heck I'm doing.
I posted something about the strange message I get when I go to shut my pc down which isn't that often because I have cable but when I do there's something that flashes on my screen that says soemthing like*You need to turn* but I can't read all of it before the pc shuts down....I'm sure that's not something that should be there.

I just when and ran Ad-aware and checked for their new files..it told me my pc was fine. Now I haven't ran the HijackThis yet because I'm a little scared to after what I read about...sorry I know very little about a pc so *please* bear with me..Do I click the botton to the left of my screen that say *Scan & fix stuff*o_O I don't want it fixing things if it could mess my pc up but that's the only thing I see that says scan.....sorry I'm a real dummy when it comes to this stuff.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Hi Tori :)

    Welcome to Wilders.

When u open HijackThis just press scan.

After that u will see your log appear, then just click on save log, and copy and paste it here in this thread.

Don't fix anything until the experts here have looked at it. They will give u recommendations on any fixes.

If you're still not sure about something, take a look at this link,

    http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/

It has detailed instructions on HijackThis.

    Good Job Tori. :)

Most of the experts live in different timezones (sleeping right now) so it could take a few hrs. before your log is read.

Just check back periodically for new posts and recommendations.

    Hi Tori,

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {62999427-33FC-4baf-9C9C-BCE6BD127F08} - (no file)

    O16 - DPF: {0246ECA8-996F-11D1-BE2F-00A0C9037DFE} (TDServer Control) - http://www.bitstream.com/wfplayer/tdserver.cab

    Then reboot.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Ok this is going to seem a little foolish to you but do I have to rescan things again in Hijackthis to fine them because I have no idea where they are now...I thought I saved things in my Doc and I do see the zip thingys and I also see a file which I think was the stuff I copyed in the notepad...I'm sorry I'm just so unsure how to go about doing this kind of stuff...it's all so new to me.

Do you make house calls?? ;-)

If u are unsure just do another scan and fix the 2 entries Pieter recommended and as he said reboot after that, then just to be sure post a new log to confirm everything.

HijackThis should not be on your desktop. It should be in it's own folder.

This is so backups can easily be found.

I will thank you...I was wondering do I unstall this program now that I'm done or do I delete it or should I just leave it as well as the log thingy that's sitting on my desk top?

U can keep HJT in it's own folder if u want for future reference and backups..

As for log on your desktop, u can delete that.
