I just watched this. The rules of the game were simplified in order for the AI to beat the PRO-player. But they were competing at the same conditions and the human player was annihilated. If the rules were normal though, the human player would've won easily.

Well, that's kind of expected. I don't know anyone who finished Warcraft I/II/III without cheats. You need fractions of a second to click things, bots don't. Mrk

As we all know, bots do not build themselves (yet). They are built by people. Neither do bots program themselves (yet). Rather, they are programmed by people. Ergo, a bot never beat anyone. Those who lost were defeated by the humans who built & programmed the bot.
You can build a bot that exceeds your own skill levels. When I used to get badly beaten by the bots in Quake III Arena I did not feel that I was being beaten by the person that programmed them. I used to customize the code for some of the open source bots myself. Bots get the privilege of being able to cheat...

"Artificial Intelligence program beats pros in six-player poker — an AI first Artificial intelligence programs have bested humans in checkers, chess, Go and two-player poker, but multi-player poker was always believed to be a bigger ask. Mission: accomplished. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, working with Facebook’s AI initiative, announced Thursday that their program defeated a group of top pros in six-player no-limit Texas hold ’em. The program, Pluribus, and its big wins were described in the US journal Science... 'Pluribus achieved superhuman performance at multi-player poker, which is a recognized milestone in artificial intelligence and in game theory,' said Tuomas Sandholm, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon..." https://www.rawstory.com/2019/07/ar...m-beats-pros-in-six-player-poker-an-ai-first/
Superior article: "At Last, AI beats professionals in six-player poker... Games such as chess and Go have long served as milestones for AI research. In those games, all of the players know the status of the playing board and all of the pieces. But poker is a bigger challenge because it is an incomplete information game; players can't be certain which cards are in play and opponents can and will bluff. That makes it both a tougher AI challenge and more relevant to many real-world problems involving multiple parties and missing information... Thus far, superhuman AI milestones in strategic reasoning have been limited to two-party competition. The ability to beat five other players in such a complicated game opens up new opportunities to use AI to solve a wide variety of real-world problems..." https://techxplore.com/news/2019-07-ai-professionals-six-player-poker.html
