OK, so there is not to be any Prevx 4.0 per se, but only a Prevx 4.0 as the main
components of a Webroot, and Webroot named/badged product, if I understand correctly? That's fine, but I'd be sorry to see the Prevx name disappear from the GUI.

Am with you on that...but after all it is only a name and as long as the functionality & quality of protection that Prevx has been famous for is therein...then it can be called whatever the marketeers deem appropriate.

A name, in these terms, does not protect...but good, well thought out & contructed software , does.

I don't think this is Prevx anymore.
We all knew it since the day Webroot bought Prevx that it's going to be bloated and whatnot.
Wait is over, but users will still have to wait several weeks until they can finally get the beta product (what's up with that btw ? )
Judging by the screenshots, it looks like Webroot, talks like Webroot, I'm sure it will walk like Webroot.

And on what basis pray tell do you make that huge assumption?

Have you actually got hold of the beta and installed it?

I for one am prepared to wait to see if Joe & the old Prevx development team have managed to keep the executable to under 1 MB...I think that there have been hints in this thread that they may even be nearing the 500 KB mark...but really, lets wait and see what is provided before starting another rant (apologies if that is too close to the knuckle for some :doubt: ).

Really people.... you act like this change is a big surprise or something:rolleyes:

Just think of it as Spysweeper with a Prevx twist or Prevx with a Spysweeper twist. Either way, this is the new deal and we will have to wait and see if/how it performs.

Webroot please see: I just hope the pricing scheme changes, the cost of multiple Prevx licenses was/is a killer!

I assumed by all the talking from Joe about this v4 , that it will be standalone Prevx app. , that nothing will change except logo and the name possibly.
From the screenshots I can see Webroot "shell" all over it , only thing familiar with Prevx is that Age/Heuristics settings tab.
It looks to me that "old" Prevx (routines) were just added to the Webroot's line as another layer.

And no, I don't have the beta , received email when I joined the program today that now I have to wait several weeks for the next step

Why are you so eager to attack different opinions ?
I see that you are using Kaspersky Internet security with Prevx 3.0 , I mean ... no comment.

Sorry if you feel you were being attacked...I was just astonished at the supposition expressed on something that no one outside Prevx/Webroot is supposed to have seen. It was not an attack but rather 'a different opinion' ;) .

As for my use of KIS & Prevx 3...your point is...what? I have my own view what consitutes a good security setup/combination...so lets keep KIS out of the equation here...please. :gack:

No problem at all, , 'attack' was a strong word perhaps, but you seem to 'judge' every post from me (and others).
And that wouldn't be a problem if you can back it up somehow, but all you've got is a blind faith.

You don't have to be astonished , Joe said zillion times that Prevx4 will be standalone product, it doesn't seem that way, have you looked at the screenshots ?
It's a suite, it looks to me that Prevx was just added to their suite.
    That's all I'm saying.
And if you ever used Webroot products, you'll know what I mean ....

The delay is due to Prevx being Borged by Webroot :(

Well sorry buddy, I'll not 'complain' anymore if that bothers you that much :D

btw what part of 'Standalone AV product' vs 'Suite' you found confusing ?

I already explained in previous post what I see as a problem, but you don't care about that , instead you're twisting this in another direction.

But fine, I'll wait for the beta copy to be available and see it for myself.
Until then, it's all good, great and groovy :D

Sorry again if I hurt your feelings towards Prevx.
