You can't complain - I offered you access to the alpha and you declined :p

I'm not complaining , just been realistic :p

Yeah, you did offered me access to it long time ago and I didn't mention any of it until you brought it up now :D
That goes to show you what kind of man I am :)

What I don't like is teasing, don't torture this people anymore , either close this thread until open beta is released or say something concrete about dates :p

You can see that people are making jokes about all this and I don't think it's funny anymore, if I were you I would do something about it :p

This thread was started 241 days ago. It was 240 days ago that Joe said, quote: "trust me, I want to send this out as soon as possible"
Similar quotes have been made throughout this thread.
Joe also said, quote: "our current goal is 1/10th" that was 150 days ago(we were later told that this was for an internal release of vers, 4.0).

57 days ago Joe said, quote: "I'll leave this thread open but I'm not going to be responding much anymore" which he hasn't.

All your moaning isn't going make Webroot release Prevx 4.0 any quicker, Joe isn't going to respond to any questions regarding the Beta.

I have to ask myself why this thread is still open; really it serves no purpose.

I'd rather wait until I see a post that reads Prevx 4.0 released today instead of checking this thread a couple of times a day, just to see someone begging for its release.:ouch:

    We're all waiting:D

1/10th was referring to the size of the program/memory usage, not the date ;)

my prevx 3 licence ran out a month ago, since then i never renewed just in case prevx 4 did not allow a free upgrade for current users. so for the past month i have switched to daily imaging and 7 on-demand scanners and i really really like this setup. this setup is fast as *insert word*

so thank you prevx 4 beta for making me discover my perfect setup!! :thumb:

Why do people have to make an assumption that there are problems  ...Joe has been clear that the Team want to make sure that the uunderlying infrastructure (that is new) to support the new version is all in place and working before release.

At least this is one group of developers who want to make sure that what they release as a beta is at least worthy of the name and if possible much better :thumb: , and not the clearly alpha grade product that some release.

    Have faith...I have! ;)

So, what you're saying is that Prevx4 is without any problems for months now, but beta is not out because .... what ?
They want their beta to be better than final releases of some other products ?
    Infrastructure is not ready ?
Whatever the reasons are, those reasons are still problems, otherwise beta would be released.
What's wrong with that word, how would you describe it ?

btw one of the alpha testers said there were black screens, BSOD's , frozen systems, etc.
That post was deleted/edited by Joe ...

Because they want their product to be better than the final releases of some other products. If you knew anything about Prevx and their previous releases you would know that is exactly how they operate. That is why their software is so good and there is so much interest in it.

That is what Joe has said on many occassions...would seem that you have not kept up with his posts.

Why are these problems? Do you know what Prevx's development plans are? Who says that they should have released the new version by now?

    Don't understand what you mean.

I suspect that is because it is a closed alpha phase and most probably the testers are under a non disclosure agreement, as often happens at the alpha stage...precisely to try to prevent information being revealed that should not. Standard industry practice. If that is the case then I can understand and would support Joe in his actions.

Yes, that was deleted because of NDA , no doubt about that.
I'm just saying that based on that post from alpha tester I suspected that there are some problems.

Listen buddy, I have nothing against Prevx, in fact that's the only AV solution that I would run (I don't use any AV software) , I used to run Prevx3 and stopped using it when Firefox4 was out.

All I'm saying is that I don't understand all that talk about Prevx4 for almost a year now, when it's ready they should release it, until then I don't see a reason for talking about it. I could understand talk about it with some screenshots for example, more details, anything ...

Personally, if I knew there was an NDA in place, and an alpha tester contravened the terms of that, I would be suspicious of what was reported and the reasons for reporting it...in the circumastances.

Also, I do not think that Joe particularly wants to 'talk' about it. Rather he has tried his best to respond to questions as and when raised...and answer honestly at that within the confines of the confidentiality rules he no doubt has to work under.

But it is us, the forum users (and I am being very generic here), who have propagated this thread and 'fuelled' the 'when will it be released/why is not released yet' question. So we have only a collective 'ourselves' to blame for 'our' frustrations...IMHO.

Finally, if I am not mistaken, this thread was actually started by Habakuck...and not Joe, like some people seem to think, and so IMHO again it is not for him to close it (as some have suggested ;) ).

    Prevx 4.0 released

    when it's ready :p

Apart from anything else, one, if not the main reason, why there is no public release yet, is because they are waiting for the Patent/s, that they hope to get, to be sorted out. PrevxHelp has already spoken about this previously.

As for not closing the thread ages ago, which i myself was surprised it wasn't, "could" be due to the well known saying, "All publicity is good" :D

Leaving out the hype, & reading between the lines, i get the feeling it should be worth the wait. Even if i might not personally prefer a suite, if it turns out to be good software, then :thumb:

I'm more interested in firewall component than the malware parts.
I hope that it's good and customizable, but I'm afraid that it will be Win native firewall 'booster' or something like that :)
We'll see eventually , hopefully this year :D

All my subscriptions ran out for Prevx over 4 months ago. I will leave Prevx in my sig just because they have a good product, but i'm not going to fork out money for the 6 subscriptions I would normally need because when it is finally released I may find that I wasted a lot of money if they have other features in the new version that my license may not cover. Then I would find myself having to purchase an upgrade or an entirely new license to be able to use the new features. Its best for me to wait. Another thing is they have a horrible problem with their license system. I have bought so many licenses over the years, and I can rarely ever get one to attach or add to my account. I always have to waste sometimes hours of my time by going through support just to attach or associate the licenses I have purchased to my account. If you can't then you can't manage your licenses which can be a major pain in the you know what. Prevx has a great product, but something has to be done about the way their system handles license. I don't have that much time to waste dealing with it always.

How can I do to subscribe to the information that v4 beta is out? Is there a mail list somewhere I can sign up on or what shall I do? I am getting tired of reading this thread for news and getting nothing. Please make it simple for me to get the real information that v4 beta is out. This pseudo-thing has gone to far.

    Best Regards

I reckon that news about beta release will be over every mainstream media in the world.
It's secretive hush-hush operation , there is no way that it's not going to be breaking news all over the world.
All eyes are on Joe right now and of course the whole great team behind it :D

Good luck Joe, may the force be with you :p

    Is that "Prevx 4" ?

Not exactly what I was expecting, but could be interesting.
