I want to know is the issue of Prevex blocking an add or a pop up then causing you to restart IE because everything is blocked.

FRUSTRATION WITH THIS:thumbd: :thumbd: STUPIDITY IS GETTING THE MOST OF ME, Prevex Help are you aware of this and do you know if it will be fixed or should i give prevex a miss when my licence comes due.

TBH most likely hardware ID's or the finger print of your computer, Microsoft (Windows) and Norton already do it to name a few.

I am getting nervous here for I'll need to renew my Prevx license in 13 days and I'll sure hate to pay twice for it due to version 4 coming out. :(

I wish PREV would make an official announcement soon so I'll know what I would need to do or go from there. I love the product for sure and hope to continue to have a relationship with them.

From what has been made public so far, you can likely upgrade to 4.0 for free, though there is not a official statement about this yet. And even if they would not make it free, I doubt that you would have to pay twice, the upgrade would probably be cheaper than a new license.

Come on you guys! Security apps working in yearly payments never ask for money when an upgrade is released! At least all the ones I know of!

Well said, this is how the industry works for yearly licenses. If though Prevx V4 had additional new (optional) modules/features then they would have the option to charge more for their product and therefore charge an upgrade from V3 for those features only (was this how it worked previously when SafeOnline came out as an add-on to Prevx v3?).
I am sure this will all be clear soon when something is announced.

wouldn't this make prevx a target for piracy?

because i do not know of a single program which uses hardware id's and has not been pirated yet.

    anyone know any?

Our licenses are controlled through our central database so we can block any piracy immediately (however, we tend to allow it as users that try to pirate our software tend to be highly infected and are good for finding new infections :))

The point is that Hardware ID's are readily available, you would be surprised how many company's use them. As for Privacy, there is no issue as it only tells the Hardware scheme and nothing personal about the computer it self. Many websites even collect this information, Microsoft being one of them as you browse though the site or use Windows Update feature to make sure it's offering the correct updates.

As for Pxhelp post I agree with the license check against the central database every time its used makes it very hard to pirate.

    Edit.
Wow I totally misread your post bro. I'm going to leave the post up tho for those that are concerned about privacy. This will teach me not to read and post why on my phone rofl.

As the patents have now been granted, and therefore not secret anymore, i would like to see them, as i'm sure others might too. So could someone please provide the patent #'s so we can peruse them :)

    TIA :thumb:

They've been submitted, not granted :) I suspect that will take several years but it is mandatory to have it submitted before it is publicly available.

Why I think there is. If it's not ready yet then it's not. How's that for a reason for you? :)

Look at the bold text in post #417 (the one TripleHelix quoted). That's probably one of the main reasons. :)

PrevxHelp has also said that they want the beta product to be almost as stable as the final product when it's released, so I suppose they're making sure to deliver a top-notch product from the beta start!

Ahhhh, well that explains it ! It appeared to me from what was posted before, that you were waiting for the patents to be granted, not just submitted ;)

    Yeah, usually does

    Indeed

Thanks for the clarification, and i hope you get em :thumb:

I think it's very likely that Webroot's acquisition of Prevx in November, and the
complications of that, set this project back maybe 2 months? We never had delays like this previously, when (it seems) Joe had more control of the releases? I might be wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting.

Could be true as Joe would not come out a say that because Webroot now owns Prevx :doubt: but we can speculate but Joe does say it will not be Bloat-ware! :thumb:

I totally disagree. If anything Webroots acquistion of Prevx gave Joe even more tools at his disposal for creating the product. Now that may have delayed it a tad, but thats a good thing for the consumer.

Prevx has seen to many horror stories of products that just were not tested well and the vendor pays for it. Remember, the tortoise and the hare.:)
