Let's hope they take complaints in Chinese more seriously than those in English.

I even tried using a few Chinese proxies, but still no BitDefender.

Well let's see how long 360 lasts. I am cautiously impressed with it so far and for a darn freebie, not so bad at all.

Like EQSysecure HIPS however, another Xtremely well coded and worthy Chinese security software creation, for some reason some of these useful groundbreaking apps of theirs reach a point of total production stops and leave the user gaping back again in reverse to have to return back to those routine mainstream retailers whose offers place undo heavy demands on end users machines all over again.

In short and in brief, 360 is reasonably lite while sporting 3 manners of AV protection, and for free.

actually, baidu av was designed later than 360IS which has governed 80% of china secuity market. To be honest, this version is not a light software for computer because of BDengine.IF you want to make a good function, failing to choose BD engine and using QVM engine to replace it will be a better try for you.

By the way, baidu AV do not use avira engine but Kaspersky in china.and the engine's version maybe is 2013.Baidu AV has two version for different coutry.just like QIhoo and kingsoft.

actually, you do not know the circumstances in China, in fact baidu AV is imatating 360,they are competator in search market
360 do not have traditional firewall, but it has the “Trojan firewall” which is different from the traditional firewall, the trojan firewall have some traditional firewall's function. qihoo 360 has made a real firewall ,but it seems not a big user market and traditional firewall is indeed a little difficult for a ordinary computer user ,so qihoo dicided to abandon the firewall project and make some function like the internet protect into the trojan firewall.
    my english is not so good , so......:D :D :D :D

i'm a Chinese, and i use qihoo's software from 2007, the 360安全卫士(i don't know how to translate it),qihoo starts to make anti-virus software in 2009,and in China it has the biggest user market, so it's cloud engine is very good, new virus will die soon if it appears in users' computer.
in China it's really reliable i think.

I've figured out a way to get the BitDefender defs to update.

I used the BitDefender definitions from June 15th:
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Signatures-Updates/Bitdefender-Virus-Definitions.shtml

I disabled self protection in 360, and quit it from the tray icon. Then I copied the variant.c00 and variant.c01 files from the update zip file to the 360 plugins folder. I then turned on 360 again, manually updated, and I got the 06-17 definitions.

Not sure whether this fixed the bug or not.

It seems like the Chinese version also has the Avira engine and a Sandbox, that the international version doesn't have.

actually in China the 360safe guard(In China, people use 360safe guard which has the "trojan firewall" ,the sandbox and other functions to match the 360 anti-virus.if you do not install the 360 safe guard, the 360 anti-virus will download the trojan firewall sub-unit.the Chinese version 360 anti-virus also has some small tools like sandbox, but the number of the small tools is fewer than the 360 safe guard) is the core software of Qihoo 360 company.
i don't know why Qihoo don't make the 360 safe guard into international version, maybe the foreign computer users is different from Chinese users.

here is the 360 safe guard's picture of 9.2 beta, my PC is windows 8,the small tools is much more in windows 7 and XP

Yes, but it seems like even the antivirus has more functions.
If you look at the screenshot here:
    http://sd.360.cn/

You can see that there are 5 little icons in the bottom left corner (there's Avira, BitDefender, the Cloud engine, QVM II and something else).

The English version only has three

    http://www.360safe.com/

    BitDefender, cloud, and QVM II.

So even the antivirus itself is limited.

yes, the Chinese version also have the Avira engine and the heuristic engine, the 360 safe guard has the four engines without BD engine.
    QQ??20130617175914.png

the safe guard's anti-virus function is incomplete, it doesn't have a real-time scan function
