Presumably the Mac WRSA v 8.0.1.44 is not included in this deluge of euphoria and will be languishing further still into late 2014/early 2015 for a converged functional embellishment?

I believe the Mac version should have updated, into the 8.0.4.x release. Can you try manually checking for updates?

Unfortunately that is not a legitimate action, because the license code is from a 2 year promotion for the ID Shield product. Even if you are entitled for the promotion, that license code is for the stand-alone Identity Shield product. For some reason it seems to activate the antivirus too, but it's unethical and I am sure it is not legal to activate another product with a license code. Anyway, I think it is corrected now, so you can't use those ID Shield license codes for activating Antivirus.

As far as I heard it's been deactivated so it sounds like it wasn't sanctioned by Webroot.

Out of interest, I just tried it.

It said the the key was valid, but is now expired.

One of my buddies tried this keycode, because he wasn't aware that this is not legal. Now he tries to use his legitimate facebook trial code, and it is not working. Is it supposed to be this way, as some kind of "retribution" ?

I would like to note that he used the "illegal" keycode for 2 or 3 days, and he had legitimate keycode anyway (which has already been activated, so was counting down too).

I don't think there is any retribution. The illegal keycode is deactivated. Your friend can use any legitimate keycode and activate it in WSA. If facebook trial is not working, please tell him to use this promotion http://www.webroot.com/customerSupport/broncosTrial.php?loc=usa&lang=en&trpd=
Just fill in the details of name and email. Press register and he will get the keycode in the next loaded webpage and an email with both the keycode and installer.;)

    Hi Swex

I suspect that you are correct and that this does indeed have something to do with the issue. At worst the person concerned should contact Webroot Support directly; explain his circumstances, i.e., he was unaware this was 'not official' and ask them to check if /re-instate his valid key code(s).

I rather suspect that Webroot now makes a sweeping blow and all blocked and blocking what sounds only by free / trial etc.. My judgment to extremely Kundenunfreundlich and you feel cheated and ripped Webroot. It is quite natural that when Webroot Activities, the keys suddenly locked again. Webroot should ask if they still work for the customer or rather wants to rip coal. :thumbd:

    Hi strykenKN

If yours was a genuine test of an offer that you had no real way of knowing if it was OK/legal or not (and I am not saying it was not :) ) then I would definitively contact Webroot Support and explain to them what has happened.

After all you do have paid for licenses do you not? If you have paid then you have a right to use the product for the term of the license...assuming that the above is indeed what happened.

There worst that they can say is 'No' in which case you are no worse off and you are now, and if they sort it out for you then you are in a much better position then you are now.

    Good luck.

No, I don't see how that would happen within our systems. I suggest just writing into our support inbox and explaining what happened and they'll get it fixed :)
