I'm thinking about switching from Avast Free to WSA. Avast is good but it makes my CPU spike with youtube video's, and the definition updating when starting up my PC makes it lag -.-

I have a few questions about the product :)

    1. Are all the signatures in the cloud? Does it download any definitions?
    2. Is the new version still as light-weight as the previous version? I'm a gamer and I'd like to have a AV that's very lightweight. I heard WSA has a reputation for being lightweight/non-bloated.

    Hi robboman

    1. All in the cloud AFAIK...but there are protection measure in place for when you are offline (these are heuristic, again AFAIK).
    2. It is IMHO lighter.

    Regards, Balders

Along these same lines (I will be replacing Avast Free with WSA probably tonight); any best practices in terms of un-installing Avast Free and installing WSA?

I assume that using Avast's un-installer, re-booting, and then installing WSA is all I need to do?

I've just laid back waiting to find anything I did NOT like about the new 2014 WSA products. :D

It's time to report that the new version is every bit as good as I hoped it would be and then some...:) :thumb: :thumb:

The Web shield doesn't work for Chrome yet.

The Web shield is being rolled out slowly over the userbase. I've read some received today. I'm still waiting.

It would be worth writing into our support inbox to have them take a look. Thanks!

As a quick thought - are you using the 32bit version of Chrome?

    Yes Chrome 32 bit
I think i know whats happening. My Chrome was installed in Users Local folder. But seems recent Chrome versions install themself in the Programs (x86) folder. Thats why WSA couldnt find my Chrome installation.
    Now all works.
But when did Chrome change its install path to Programs (x86)? Didnt know that...

That appears to only apply to US citizens only.

As I don't use Chrome and never will I see no harm in checking it unless PrevxHelp says otherwise?

You shouldn't need to check this (as the web filtering only applies to actual websites anyway, so it won't make a difference).

Interesting, I wasn't aware of that change either. I'll take a look to see what's happening or when it changed.

    Thanks!

Is there a way I can change the skin? I see that many have the green gui. I have a brown or gold color.
    Thanks
