Phoenix is a redesign of the Mozilla browser component, similar to Galeon, K-Meleon and Chimera, but written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform.

It has very few features tho, not many preferences to tweak and I think poor java control, plus I believe it needs Mozilla already installed?

No, it doesn't need Mozilla to be installed! Its faster then mozilla (start up time)

Next releases will introduce more features!

Well I am impressed so far!!! It’s fast and easy to use! What’s interesting, Phoenix has better compatibility then Mozilla! I am able to read sites that were invisible to Mozilla!

I'm not terribly impressed. Seems like nothing but Mozilla, minus most of the things I like Mozilla for and with less control over it. If you want something lighter than Mozilla, just get Opera.
