WSA with 2787 False Positives ?

Maybe I'm lucky that it won't run on my system.

 

I'm glad I didn't keep WSA on my laptop very long.
I wasn't impressed with it at the time and it looks like dumping it wasn't such bad idea.

 

Emsisoft A.M. did well!

Lol, most of the ones that failed did so because of 1 or 2 false positives, but WSA 2787, wow. I look forward to an explanation.

 

Is Auslogics using Bitdefender Engine?
It almost look identical as BD2011 , just changed the name!!!

This RAP chart is very aggravating. Why can't VB publish it in some sort of searchable format? It's difficult to find which products were tested and which were not. The RAP test is a an ok concept but publishing results as a jpg is a real PITA.

 

Very surprised Norton had some wildlist misses on the Dec VB100 test. They used to be an automatic pass.

 

It's really odd because PC Tools got the VB100 award this time. Given how PC Tools and Norton perform relative to each other on various tests, I think Symantec really needs to put both products on common ground as far as detection is concerned.

 

It's unfortunate that at the time WSA was tested, there was a rule set at their backend to block ransomware that ended up being too heuristic. This caused many FPs for users as well. This has long since been fixed. PrevxHelp acknowledged in December that:

 

Someone asked earlier if Auslogics was using Bitdefender engine. Well, I had bought a Bitdefender antivirus license awhile back at a cut rate of $9.95 for a year, but when I tried to download it on my Windows 7 64-machine it just wasn't responding properly and I uninstalled it and forgot about it. Just recently I downloaded a free trial of Auslogics antivirus, and guess what? It picked up on my Bitdefender license, accepted it, and is now working fine on this computer. So right now I have Auslogics antivirus and am going to see how it does. Using it along with Online Armor premium firewall and Trojanhunter 5.5.

 

Why pay for AV? MSE, nothing missed, no FPs. That's all I care about, good job.

Certain versions of Forefront, Exchange for example, use multiple engines.

It would be interesting to see whether a variety of AV systems that use Bitdefender engines accept a Bitdefender license. I was totally shocked when Auslogics accepted my Bitdefender license, mainly because I did not even know when I downloaded it that it had any connections to Bitdefender. On my original install of Bitdefender, on my Windows 7 64-bit machine, it was slowing down Internet Explorer just horribly. It worked okay with the Maxthon browser, but Maxthon browser is not recognized on a lot of sites that I work with. I even disabled that toolbar that comes standard with Bitdender, and it still dragged heavily. So I uninstalled it. But so far Auslogics seems to be doing just fine, even with Internet Explorer.

Maybe someone can post all the antivirus software that uses Bitdefender, and start testing whether free or trial downloads will lead to a paid subscription for those of us who have a Bitdefender license. I was pleasantly surprised that this happened with Auslogics.

Edit: Sorry, this needs serious editing. When I downloaded Auslogics on my Windows 7, 64-bit machine, it too slowed Internet Explorer to a crawl. I uninstalled it, but had a need for av software on an older Vista 32-bit machine, I downloaded a free trial of Auslogics, used the Bitdefender license, and it is running fine on that machine. Internet Explorer is up to speed.

 

The RAP test for Emsisoft was for only one month since VB100 doesn't include results where there are any false positives.

Did Auslogics Antivirus simply take BD 2011 and re-name it to Auslogics Antivirus?

It has exactly the same GUI as BD 2011 did previously.

That's my thought too. I mean, good for Kaspersky and all the others that did well, but at 50+ bucks every six months to a year, and usually including a lot of extra crap you really don't need..no thanks. MSE is no wonderboy by any shot, but it does well enough, and, pair it up with MBAM or any other extra layer (hell, pair it up with free Sandboxie and IE 9 or Chrome), and you're doing pretty darn good.
