Total Defrag pretend defragmentation?

I have HDM 2011 Pro, just updated to version 10.0.17.13908 from 10.0.17.13146. I ran Total Defrag on a 2Tb drive, data 390Gb , about 99% fragmentation according Total Defrag (26 green blocks in a sea of red) , so a long Defrag was to be expected. The defragmentation took close to 9 hours, ended with a "finished" screen and on top of that a pop-up that told me that "an error has occurred". Gotta love that, that's why you buy Pro software, clear concise messages. I pressed the only button available after which the PC rebooted and Total Defrag took another 6 hours to undo it's attempt at defragmentation. Anyone have an idea why I get a [Finished] , an error message and nothing for 15 hours of (non)-defragmentation?
