OK, I am sure this is not difficult, but I am confused.

My C: drive experienced a catastrophic failure. I purchased a new one, and installed it to the machine

I had the c:\ drive backed up via a cyclic backup on my other hard drive.

I booted into the Paragon recovery CD and sucesssfully restored C: (to the new drive, drive 0) from the backup on F: That all went well.

Upon rebotting the machine, I get the ntldr is missing message.

Now, I can get into the OS (Win 7 Pro) via the recovery CD and having it scan to find the OS and then booting to it.

So, it seems that my boot record is hosed. I am not terribly experienced with these things, so, what do I do.

I tried the "repair" stuff on the recovery CD, all to no avail.

The drive containing the OS is HD 0 in the BIOS.

It seems to me that the machine, none-the-less, is trying to boot from the second hard drive (drive 1).

    I'm lost.

The GOOD news: I know I have all of my stuff, just gotta get past this.

What do I do to get past this?

    OK, I FIXED IT.....

    Here's what I learned today:

It seems that my computer thought that the OS was on Disk1 (not sure why)

The partition with the OS was restored to Disk 0 (I know why, I did it)

Tried to repair boot problems with Win7 DVD, all to no avail.

FINALLY, I thought, "What woudl happen if I unplugged Disk 1 (SATA cable)?

I did that, booted from the Win7 DVD ---> Repair My Computer

I allowed it to automatically fix any issues. It did. Rebooted.

ALL IS WELL... I then booted to the new drive, only the second disk wasn't there, as I had unplugged it.

Shut down, plugged in the second disk again, and we are BACK TO NORMAL...:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :D :D :D

    BTW:

    Kudos to Paragon Software:

Main Hard Drive has catastrophic failure.

    Buy New Drive

Restore C Drive from latest cyclic backup which runs every M, W and Sat.

    Fix boot problem...

Back up and running.... Files lost: ZERO

    Elasped Time: 3.5 hours

Elapsed Time if I had known what to do about the boot problem right off the bat: 2.25 hours.

    1TB hard Drive = $85

    Paragon Software = $50

Restored machine after catastrophic HD failure: PRICELESS :D

Appreciate it.... Had one of those barracudas that had issues. Just ceased to exist one evening.

Glad I had paragon and the cyclic backups...
