initial impressions- very pretty user interface but not streamlined enough for me. not tried a backup or restore yet

major new feature seems to be the 'sync' option, seems like a computer-wide 'dropbox' feature

release notes- What’s new Acronis® Acronis True Image Home 2012:

File synchronization - allows replicating important data between different computers and devices. This makes the data available from any computer, wherever users may need it.
File sharing from Online Storage: Easily share your files stored online with your friends, family or colleagues.
Enhanced Hardware support - work with 2TB+ storage devices and the latest UEFI-based hardware.
    Enhanced NAS support:
    - Save backups to your NAS regardless of NAS filesystem.
    - NAS is now compatible with Non-Stop backup

ATI 2011 supports SSD's but not ATI 2010 so I would assume 2012 will support SSD's also!

correct, ATI 2011 fully supports SSD's so it would not be new feature in the 2012 version
