it takes about a minute to play video files using vlc media player because prevx scans the dll's during load, no other antivirus takes this long to scan vlc's dll's during start so what's going on here?? i have put up with it for far too long now

If you could please save a scan log by clicking Tools - Save Scan Results and send it to report@prevxresearch.com, we can whitelist its components to prevent it from scanning unnecessarily.

    Thank you!

All the applications on portableapps.com are safe and should be whitelisted. :)

    ok this is still happening.

i thought once prevx scans a program then it does not need to scan it again??

this time it took 3 mins to open vlc, disabling real time protection makes it open in half a second

and this is on an intel SSD by the way

can someone replicate this? just download vlc portable from portableapps.com and open a video file with it.

i suppose i could wait for version 4 if thats the only way this is going to get resolved

I never had a problem with any of both VLC versions and Prevx. I use to download them here (if it makes any difference):

    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

    Current version is 1.1.7.

I have exactly the same problem. Prevx takes a long time to authenticate portable VLC's files.

Could you please also send a Prevx scan log to Prevx as suggested in post #2?

    TIA,

    TH

We do whitelist a large number of them but a scan log is the only way to be sure that we've whitelisted the exact files that you have installed.
