new Safeonline user

New user of SafeOnline here from Prevx standard(free). I can't help but notice that when I start Google Chrome/SRWare Iron I see the blue Prevx button at the top right portion of the browser. After a while I do not see it there anymore...? Is there a means that I can check if the browser is protected by SafeOnline...? or am I understanding it wrong/doing it wrong...new user here.

Have Sandboxie 3.50 paid, Avira Premium, OutpostPro ver7, MbamPro/HitmanPro(on-demand).

 

Are you using Sandboxie with the browsers because there is some incapabilities with the 2? Use unsandboxed for banking and online purchases and sandboxed for the rest of your Browsing also there are many threads in this forum on the subject and maybe other Sandboxie users will reply to help you! And you should install the Free Full SafeOnline version here http://www.prevx.com/safebook.asp you will have to uninstall the version you have and reboot then install this version!

All HTTPS sites are automatically set to Max and with the Facebook version you can change the HTTP settings to your liking! I have HTTP set to High! Here is the info you requested: http://info.prevx.com/safehelp.asp

I see that the browser tab just shows only for a coupl of seconds for me to see what level of protection I have. After the site has connected I do not see it anymore....


Is this normal? Or it's only mine....?

How can I check that the page I am visiting is still under Prevx SafeOnline protection if it shows only for a few seconds...? Where can I go or what can I do to check it?

Been accustomed to SBIE/GesWall where you can ID browser protection through the border and " # " / "G"....

What Browsers are you using and versions? And are they being protected by SBIE/GesWall at the time the PSO Tab disappears as they could possibly be affecting PSO's Protection? I don't use either one of them and my PSO Tab is always there in IE8, FF 3.6.13 & Opera 10.63.

I use all Chrome based browsers with SafeOnline. My FF/Opera/IE are with SBIE.

Will it show in sandboxed FF/Opera/IE still when I open those browsers? I do not see the Prevx browser tab when I use SBIE..

Yeah..it's like that now. I can't also get a screeshot even as I said "Yes" to the pop-up of Prevx allowing screenshots(confirmed it also). When you open a new window it shows but not for long then it disappears. I have:

a) Google Chrome 6 tabs open --no Prevx browser tab, Chromeplus (newly opened with Prevx browser blue tab), SRWare Iron (newly opened with Prevx browser blue tab)

after a while it disappears.....it goes flickering then disappears....

Using Windows 7 Ultimate here.

Help me on the screenshot so I can send the images....

 

We will have to wait for PrevxHelp but I'm pretty sure Chrome 6 and for sure Chromeplus is not supported by Prevx SafeOnline! I clicked "Reset" in Configure Monitoring>Prevx SafeOnline and all disappeared except:

Configuration for all HTTPS websites
Configuration for all HTTP websites

I lost the default settings for paypal etc....

(a) How can I get it back?

(b) This is first time I'd ask this...is there a way to backup my Prevx settings? Did not have the need to do that before until now...

Also, have mentioned earlier about screenshot issue. Seems I can't make it get it work.

Also am planning to enter C:\Sandbox in 'Detection Overrides'. I am thinking by doing so SafeOnline will ignore FF as it is a forced program in SBIE. Right?

I use FastStone ScreenCapture(because of the scrolling mouse capture feature).
I enter it in the 'Detection Overrides' so I can use it in lieu of the pop-up acceptance of Prevx not working. It worked for a moment. Hence the image I post as Scenario 1. But I cannot get a Scenario 2 to show that after a while the broser tab disappears because screenshot although has been allowed through the Prevx pop-up can't be done.

I am posting this one using SRWare Iron with the browser tab not visible....

(c) What can I do? I do screenshots all the time when I surf instead of .pdf printing. Screenshots are important to me when I surf.

(d) You mentioned those Chrome versions above 5 are not supported...? Hmmmm...seems to be working as I have not been able to take a screenshot until now and I believe that is a feature "Protect against screen grabbing attacks"....right?

(e) Along this line...assuming that it's working fine with the tab, the main concern here is my necessity for screenshot/camstudio...Well screenshot always..definitely. CamStudio not often but when I need to use it how can I let Prevx SafeOnline allow it efficiently?

That is my main dilemma right now.

There are indeed some graphical inconsistencies when using Chrome with SafeOnline, largely because of how Chrome renders its windows in a translucent manner. However, protection is still being applied in the background and if SafeOnline needs to warn you, it will block any access to the screen and show a modal warning.

If you do need to take screenshots frequently, you can lower the SafeOnline protection by changing protection for all HTTPS websites from Maximum to High - this will allow you to take screenshots as needed, although if you don't take them too frequently, you can chose to "Stop Protection" within Prevx only when necessary.

Thanks for the help. I will remember that. I hope the issue with Chrome and SBIE will be fixed. I resorted to not using a sandboxed browser and a Safeonline browser at the same time. The screenshot tip I'll do. Thanks!

 

I earlier used as shown in the pic. It weakens sbxie a little but you can also tick ' drop rights in sbxie settings'. If I'm not mistaken you can then take screenshots, could be wrong. Try it, I have a different set up for the moment. The SOL icon will also be shown in your browser.
