    Hi,

Today i am surfing the net for Qihoo 360 Issue and found that two new player emerged in the world of security solution. One is Preventon Secure Internet Desktop™ aka Preventon AntiVirus and other is Nifty Corporation Security 24.

I was shocked that both of these got VB 100 award for Windows 7 (Dec 2009) whereas other Old players like CA, Norman, AhnLab, Kingsoft Swinstar are not able to get it. Even Qihoo 360 is able to achieve this award.

    Websites:-

    Nifty Corporation Security 24

I have a serious issue with a product whose "News" section hasn't seen a post since October 2005. Where's the link to the results showing it actually received this award? It throws some names out there like Lavasoft and Sophos, but I could put a banner up on my website too just as easy. Take note that I'm not shooting YOU down, but this antivirus doesn't seem right to me. Then again, I've been at Wilders WAY too long, lol.

As far as Nifty..um, what is it? I visited the English version of the website and found..nothing?

I don't think so such AV was ever included in the test they may claim it but I totally disagree. Anybody having the subscription on VB can confirm if such AV did passed VB100:)

Yeah, i have also found the same on google. What i have read that they are using Kaspersky Anti-Virus engine in their own AV tool. But what i still not able to get that is it a full fledged AV or only a Online tool...o_O o_O o_O

I think guessing is not the correct word to say but I was quite shocked to see it received the VB100 award but still it is lesser known product atleast I haven't heard of it here or other security forums. And like what Fajo said anyone can put a logo to promote their product. Many AV(rogues or lesser known products) use logos of well respected test orgs to promote their product and fool the users. I have many links of those rogues which claim that they have topped certain tests and blah.....blah...... My post is quite off topic but I just needed to clear so no more off topic post by me from now;) No hard feelings dude

BTW have anyone tried this product just curious to ask:p

Both manufacturers seem to be legit.

They won a VB100 award. No one can deny that. It's on paper.

Everyone seemed to be suspicious of PrevX when it first entered the market...
Why not give these two guys the chance to prove themselves :D

    Hi,
Just a note here regarding Preventon. They are well known and have been around for a while now but might be better known in their native UK. Do a search for "Preventon" here at Wilders and you will see discussions going back to 2003...

    Kind regards
    Mike

    Correct. Read more.... (pdf)

It's also worth noting that Preventon anti-spyware uses the Lavasoft engine.

I downloaded Preventon -- free for home users. It's a 50+MB d/l. I *might* install it one of these days.

If you are running Vista or Windows 7 you can forget this security suite.

On what basis do you say that? What do you know about Sophos that VirusBulletin has overlooked? Do you have any test data to back up your statement?

Never heard of them prior to this thread; no advertising and no boxed products seen here in my area of the UK.

But maybe like Sophos, their products are mainly aimed towards the Corporate/Enterprise field.
