Re: Agnitum’s New Year Gift Lifetime License

I found it quite tempting. Lifetime is goooood! But i just tried it after uninstalling Comodo and had a lock up... And some past versions were getting quite CPU hungry with p2p.

And since Comodo is running so well for now...

Note to potential EURO buyers. Change the currency to DOLLARS. They charge the same figure in € and $ and given the exchange rate, you get a "discount" if you choose $.

Otherwise, if you pay in Euro, you will pay the equivalent of 55.67 $ + VAT. (39.95 € = 55,67 $), while in $, you would only pay 39.95$ + VAT.

This is very tempting. I have tried Outpost not so long ago, and liked it very much. Although its simplicity is, for me, nowhere near OA, but still...

Does the license include updates only or upgrades to the future versions.I could not find any information about that. What if there is a new 2010 version?

Thanks for the tip. Wow I will purchase it for sure. I'm currently using NIS 2009; however, for a lifetime license who can say no to that. :D

    Peace.

Just bought Online Armor for the XMas discount and have bought too much security this year - otherwise, I might take advantage.

Why don't you buy it now and save the license whenever your online armor license expires next year; or you could save it for a rainy day. :D

    Peace.

Used to use Outpost Pro and it's a great firewall. For the last year or so, I've been running without a third-party firewall (i.e., I use Vista built-in firewall) to see if it really makes a difference. So far, without a third-party firewall my system runs better and I haven't had any issues.

That being said, I liked Outpost Pro better than all the others I tried and this is a great deal. However, lifetime licenses make me nervous (if sales are good, why offer a lifetime license instead of just offering a discount or some other deal?).

    Decisions, decisions. o_O

I would suggest everyone to try the trial version first. Outpost is giving me random BSOD (stop errors) on Vista x64, at least once a day. It did this on my previous systems as well, so I know it is not system specific to certain hardware. Plus I think the 3-year license is for 2009 version only. It doesn't say if this license covers future versions (2010+) for life. Who wants to keep running 2009 version years from now?

To be honest, it looks like every firewall I try, has problems, bugs, is unstable, and causes BSOD's. Comodo Firewall was okay until I uninstalled it once to try the latest Outpost Firewall. Now I can't get it to install again. The installer reports "unsupported operation".

Is there any STABLE firewall for Vista x64?

Yes, I agree it's a good deal but realistically they are a business and this is a good way to generate revenue (i.e., when someone gives me something and I pay for it, I call it a purchase, not a gift).

Gotta say Agnitum has a really good marketing department...

Last year I bought Outpost Pro for 2 years deal and here's my experience:

By buying software, you feel commited to using it (ie no freedom as when using freeware when you can switch between others)

As the need for personal firewall software isn't so great, the main advantage of this offer is having a lifetime antivirus subscription.

But for those who have AntiVir Free + Antispyware + CFP 3 or similar you are throwing money away!

It gives 19% VAT for me too (in euros), which is unusual... I think they have a fixed VAT for the EU. But, if you use credit card, you shouldn't pay in pounds. See my previous post. You end up paying much more than if you pay with dollars.

    Very true. I agree 100%.

Well upgrade is free, I own the Pro version and had never been charged with the antispyware signature update.
