Hello. I'd like to exclude some large files from my TI backups, as I only have a limited amount of backup space. However the "Source files exclusion" option under "Default backup options" doesn't seem to work. Adding "*.rec" to the list of exclusions doesn't stop my .rec files from being backed up. I can exclude the files from an individual backup when using the Create Backup Wizard, but then I have to add the exclusion manually every time I do a backup.

Am I missing something? (Sorry if this has been answered before, but I'm having difficulty with the forum search function.)

I'm using Acronis True Image Home version 11.0 (build 8,101)

I think in TI 11 that the Default backup options exclusions only apply to Data (Files & Folders) type backups. You may be able to create a manual task for you backup image and have it save your exclusions.

If you're doing Data (Files & Folders) type backups and the default exclusions are not being applied, then something is not working correctly.

I only run TI 11 from VistaPE so I have to enter my exclusions every time.

That might not be the most elegant way of fixing your problem, but its probably the easiest solution.

If you create a task and run it manually, then each successive time you run it you only need to go into 'management tools' -> 'manage tasks' -> 'edit task' and change the name of the .tib file. Then 'start task' to manually do the backup.

Thanks very much for the replies.

I'm doing a "My Computer" backup.

Creating a manual task sounds like the way to go. I've never used tasks before, but I just tried it and it seems to be fine. I don't think I even need to change the name of the .tib file, as I'm using an Acronis managed Backup Location, so file names are assigned automatically.
