Not enough server storage is available to process this command

I had this exact same problem, and it also occured immediately after installing and using Acronis True Image to backup my disks.

After about 12 hours of wasted research and multiple attempts to solve the problem, I was successful.

Unfortunately, the final soultion came when my frustration was extreme, and I was consciously breaking the first rule of debugging, which is change only one variable in the equation at a time. So here is the fix, and I don't know if only one of these changes, or both, are required, nor am I going to experiment further to find out, I've already wasted too much time and money.

First, in the registry, change the IRPStackSize, increase by 3 to 5. There are many URLs on the internet which talk about this part in great detail, I won't reproduce it here.

Second, turn "Use simple file sharing" ON, reboot the machine, then turn it OFF and reboot the machine again. In other words, cycle the sucker. Many changes in disk shares don't actually become effective until this is done.

 

Exactly the same happened here on two XP systems. It was only necessary to change IRPStackSize, though this had to be done on both host and client, as the client couldn't even see its own shares, let alone the host's.

TBH I can't be certain TI was the cause, though it was one of the changes on both machines.

 

Symantec products are well known for causing this problem in case you have one installed.
