    Wow
    It isn't a surprise, though.
I'd like to know what Roger Thompson has to say about this.

    Grisoft buys Exploit Prevention Labs

Interesting as it should add a very robust web browsing technology to the product. Exploit Prevention Labs makes the Linkscanner software.

Damn! I have been trying to avoid AVG software for a while and this is the 3rd piece of software that I have been using prior to them being gobbled up by AVG...humpf:mad:

I hope that they will not do anything to impact what is a really excellent product.:doubt:

When was the last time your av scanners found the problem? it's usually the malware/spyware product that does the catching.

    Hi guys,

I'm very pleased. I always liked avg, and am looking forward to working with them.

Nearly all Explabs staff are staying on with grisoft.

    Should be fun.

    Cheers

    Roger

Thanks for the "really excellent" bit.

It won't hurt our product at all. They like what we do, and I expect positive things.

It's biz as usual... I'll continue to monitor Wilders, and appreciate everyone's thoughts and comments here. I pay attention.

    Cheers

    Hi,

It is always a bit of sadness to witness an thriving boutique-style business being swallowed by an aggressive big box type enterprise.

To say everything will remain the same is a half true statement, because different corporate culture will inevitably and eventually alter this marvelous app's future plan. Time will tell. But in the mean time,

Who is the true beneficiary of this take over? you ? me ?(users of this app), stock holders of this private company or Grisoft ? Perhaps some one will dare to suggest that we all are the winners. *puppy*

Take care. And good luck for the new identity.

    Hey Perman,

I'm fairly confident all will be better. All of our tech and research staff are staying. I don't like (and resist) big companies, but these guys are somewhere in between. Small enough that critical people give a sh*t, but big enough that they have some resources.

Given that half our model is predicated on having users look out for each other ... a sort of Internet Neighborhood Watch, I'm fairly confident that for the most part, things will be better for all.

I expect to continue to chat with you guys. If I miss someone, feel _free_ to contact me directly.

    Cheers

    Roger

    Hi, Roger

Thanks you for taking time to reply.

I am very pleased with your assurance. And

I am confidence that your next chapter will be a sequel to the successful past one.

I wish all the best for you and your staff.

Will linkscanner stay a standalone product for the coming years?

Well if you go to the "ewido" forum you will see the future of LinkScanner...

If I may speculate, it will first change its name to something like "AVG LinkScanner", and maybe get one update to fix any serious bugs. Then after some time some Grisoft staff member will appear here at Wilders and inform us about the discontinue of AVG LS because it´s going to be integrated in their suite...

But this is just me speculating. It could continue as a standalone product (if you see those famous pigs flying around...)

    /C.
