I was searching to enhance my cleaning setup, and I found this freeware application to clean folders that contain temporary files: Empty Temp Folders.
    link
It sound quite interesting, it includes an automatic feature and doesn't install itself on the OS.
Cleanup is always a sensitive area, so I was wondering if anybody has had any experience in running it.

I use it on some Win98 systems. Works well.

Have you tried the Crud Cleaner which has a title of Ccleaner. Numerous postings on this forum.

You could just open |Search| and enter *.tmp,*.chk,~*.*
This will bring up all your temp files and you can delete 'em. I have this as a "pre-set" in Locate32.

screamer, would you be so kind as to give me clearer directions on how to do this in Locate32? It sounds like a great solution but I am a bit lost :)

Not to wander off topic topic too much but does anyone know the accuracy in the statement that some tmp files can also double as an executable or/and process? I run into this many times in my research with badware files.

Now back: I routinely use these on any installs/reinstalls and won't be without them for temp cleanups.

    Freeware:

    ClearProg

    DiskCleaner

I like empty temp.folders and would like it even more if it included the registry.
However, given some, perhaps encourages one to want more.

There almost that many reg. cleaners and solutions as there are reg. entries, but which solution is the safest and most reliable or is safe and reliable is still a question yet to be answered.

They're just spoofing the extension. Check with an hex editor and you'll see the MZ "magic byte"
