Avast Pro vs CA Security

Like to know how would be better AV between :

Avast Pro 4.7 vs CA Security ( Just AV Installed , NO Firewall, No Spyware)

How would get better detection rate and less resource ?

id say avast for better detection, and ca security for less resources.

 

Why CA Security Suite without firewall and antispyware? In this case just
install CA Antivirus 2007. I'd recommend CA because it has heuristics and
its not resource hungry. It has 27 VB wins, 13 losses and 8 no shows where
Avast has 19 wins, 19 losses and 10 no shows. The Vet engine which CA
uses is ICSA certified for cleaning some viruses where Avast is certified for
only detecting. But Avast has more features.

 

I'd prefer CA Anti-Virus 2007:it's light,effective and more stable.

 

To make a long story short.

avast! is better than CA eTrust when it comes to detection rates and other useful features, e.g. Web Shield (HTTP scanner), Boot-time scanner, etc.

avast! relatively has higher overall detection rates (other malware, isn't just ITW viruses/worms) than CA eTrust (both Vet and Inoculate), for instance, the latest trojan detection rates test by PC Welt, avast! got 95.17% while both CA eTrust engine got only 48.37% and 41.92%, isn't avast! far better? why eTrust's heuristics didn't make any better?

If you have a quite new computer (not Windows XP on Celeron 1.0 GHz CPU, RAM 128 or 256 MB), I don't think you will have a resource problem with avast!.

 

Avast certainly is feature rich but all of them are not basic necessities for
everyone. trojan detection is just one aspect of an antivirus. IMHO CA
is far better.

What else do you expect your antivirus to detect? when almost all antivirus can detect all ITW sample sooner or latter. Sorry but I think an antivirus that can detect trojans only 48.37% and 41.92% is unacceptable and such product should be quarantined in the hall of shame.

Actually i'm not, like i said trojan detection is only one aspect. VirusBTN and
ICSA test results show how ALL products fare with ITW samples. I'm not
saying that ITW is the ultimate list but its the basic hurdle. My second
point is 'surfing habit'. CA works for me any many others where Avast works
for you and many others. So its normal to have different opinions.

 

Trojan and malware protection is far more important to me these days.

I can't tell you the last time I saw a actual virus get detected by mp PC. I can tell you however when the last piece of malware and even a trojan came through.

If no firewall, Avast certainly as it has network worm protection, on the whole, Avast far more featured with excellent detection rate and also features boot time scan to check in use system files.
