    Hi Folks

Nod isn't updating on either auto or manual - all I get is a server connection failure message - last update 09/01/06 Version 1.1357

    Any ideas ?

    Cheers

    Jon

First place I would check is my firewall. Allow NOD to connect as need be. Also, make sure the update servers are set to "choose automatically".
Something on your system is blocking access to the updates.

    Thanks Ron

LooknStop has Nod32 Kernel Service allowed as an application and NOD's servers are set to choose automatically.

Kernel service is the only aspect of NOD referenced in LnS

I hope this isn't something to do with Process Guard 3.2 installed on 4th Jan :(

    Any other ideas ?

    Cheers

    Jon

Try disabling the firewall for a while, just to see if update goes well then.

    Eh ? :(

Not happy about being on-line with no firewall !

How do I protect myself ? Do you mean go to Windows firewall ?

    Cheers

Hurrah and deep embarrassment to the good people at DiamondCS for possibly implicating PG on this occassion

Thanks Ron and Marcos for your help :D

What happened there then with LnS do you think ?

Tired now so logging off soon but more power to both your elbows (don't worry - odd expression I know) :D

If you're not sure I'll ask in the LnS forum

    Cheers

I'm not using LooknStop at the moment but I believe it has a learning mode. Have you taken a look at Blackspear's thread on LooknStop?

Sometimes I too get that warning on my old W98SE machine (Dutch).
If that happens, I abort (right English word?...) and try again; usually that gets me right (either when there is an update or not). No big problem for me ;)

    PS (added to edit):
no Look'n'Stop or PG here on this machine.

    Wow

Half way through posting a reply to you Ron and have suffered a major crash - machine just shut down - somethings not happy here.............

What I was going to say was - I have run Lns with NOD for several months without issue ( actually based on Blackspears recommendations from one of his excellent set-up threads )

I'll double check his set up recommendations from that link Ron and I do appreciate your help ( and to you FanJ)

Somethings gone badly amiss tonight straight out of the blue...

I'm going to let my machine cool down now :doubt:

    Cheers

I know the feeling Jon. I have to let my machine cool down more than 10 times a day (not related to NOD32) ;)

    Take care !
    Cheers, Jan.

    Hi there

I'm wondering whether this might be the issue

This was taken from this thread and I'm sure the app in question was NOD

I have taken NOD32 Kernel Service out of the authorised applications in LnS and plan to wait for NOD to request access for an update. If this doesn't work I guess a reinstall of LnS might be appropriate.

Any comments on this course of action ?

Mods - is this post still ok for this forum or is this now one for the LnS forum ?

    Thanks for any further help.

    Cheers

    Jon

Worth a try Jon. If the problem persists, I would say the LnS forum would be the place to hopefully find an answer.

    Hi there The Hammer

Sorry, in what context ? In this thread or in LooknStop ? :doubt:

I've now started a new thread in the LnS forum if that helps ?

    Thanks for your input.

    Cheers

I'm sure he'll pick it up in in one of the threads. He's not the only one who could help of course, but he came to mind. I would have sent you a PM instead of posting but I see your not set up for that.

One of my softwares can no more connect to the Internet ?
Check that this software is listed in the Application Filtering page and that it is authorized (green point).

If this is true, your software might be blocked by an Internet Filtering rule. The blocked data are probably listed in the log page. A right clic on correponding line of the log page allow to create an authorization rule.

Thanks Ron for moving the thread.

Yup -looked at this this afternoon. The app filtering field looks fine. The logs are hard to interpret but nothing seems to refer to NOD

Ok, so you tried with only Win Firewall. Did that work?

Hi there and thanks for all contributors help.

Tomorrow, I think I may uninstall/reinstall LnS and see if the problem is replicated ,unless CrazyM or other firewall experts have a view in the meantime.

Perhaps I should have done this earlier this evening but I thought maybe the developers and experts would find it easier to find a workaround/solution while the problem was still occurring. I'm happy to wait though if anyone has further opinions :)

    Cheers

    Jon
