As the title states, what's the better app? Or is there something better than all three? I don't mind if you only post your opinion of your prefered app, but I wouldn't mind knowing why you chose that program over the others. Thanks for your opinions.

Ok guys I understand what the problem is and I don't want to take sides. But there is an honest desire to have the best. I would like to see which program is best. I allready have one but am willing to change. Maybe people can post without putting one down.

I have to say PG over appdefend if you want to pay. But I can't say the reason for this, because of forum rules.

Obviously as stated, forum rules do not permit to go into detail. As ever, house rules have to be respected.

As such let's Please discontinue the cat and mouse game with the innuendos and discuss the programs in question by the thread starter.

I think that this market is getting crowded, KAV are also entering with the 2006 version that is in beta and ZA are trying to enter with their OS firewall

It is too early to say where the mass market will go, but you would expect that the other big vendors will pile into the fray as well

The things I would look for in a solution would be
    • good performance with a decent set of protected items
    • flexibility
    • configurability
    • then a way to make use of the flexibility+configurability so that the product wasn't annoying or unusable by the uninitiated
    • clear and understandable alerts
    • performance (again)
In my opinion nothing currently has found the right balance to not be annoying and be usable by the "masses" without losing the other qualities
If you based your judgements on the points above you might find that your preference for each product will vary.

There is one good thing coming out of all of this and that is that each company will put in more effort to stay up to date and us (consumers) will get better products <img>

Back to your original question... I have all 3 and at the moment I prefer the AppDefend+RegDefend combination

I have to agree totally with Gottadoit's comments. This market is getting crowded and this in many ways can only benefit the consumer.

I have also been testing KAV2006, and it needs work. I also am testing SnS, and Online Armor. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses. Also Prevx1 is working hard in this market.

But to answer the original question, like Gottadoit, I also prefer the Appdefend+Regdefend solution.

  10. I don't like suite type software. Too risky, too easy to take them down all together.

So PG + Regdefend seems a better bet

Having now seen and played with version 2.0 of Safe'n'Sec, if you absolutely don't want the suite approach, then I would say Safe'n'Sec + Regdefend would be a better choice then PG + Regdefend. Safe'nSec now gives you network application control. See post in thread on Safe'n'Sec review. This new version does eclipse PG.

PS Still my first choice is Appdefend and Regdefend.

I fully agree with that and so
I think you should try DefenseWall by Softsphere. Best balance, or should i say least annoying I've seen yet.
