Here is one that I have used for many years. It is for POP mail. Give it a try and if you want, I have a few sounds you may like. Just PM me.

    A little update on PopTray:

    3.1 (beta  RC2 2004-12-16
    (+) Translation Added: Lithuanian
(-) Disable "Delete Account" and "Test Account" when no accounts defined.
(-) After deleting account you could get "List index out of bounds" error.

If no new errors are found, this version will be released as PopTray 3.1.:)

I have been using Mailwasher Pro for about 9 months and am very satisfied with it. Very reliable in classifying email as to spam , possible and legitimate after only a short "learning" period.

It has options for alerts by sound and visual by blinking icon on taskbar.

30 day trial offer with the Pro version & then reverts to basic version (I think.)

The basic version can only be used for one account and the pro is unlimited. ;)

Hi, I have used and tried all of the aforesaid programmes. Mailwasher pro and poppeeper are good but have to be opened before your e mail client, Now I use Frontgate mx as it sits between your e mail client and server, so you only open your e mail programme and it does the rest for you. It can be customised to suit yourself and prompt for suspect mails, [It will automatically delete the spam if you so want] It does all mailwasher does.....................
    AND ITS FREE !!

Mailfrontier is probably the most tweakable, combining heuristic (bayesian detector) and white list. It pulls about 6MB.

Qurb is much lighter at 1MB. This is strickly a white list program. Unknown emails are sent to the quarantine bin.

Frontgate looks good. What is the memory load? I'm assuming that it must run in the background to intercept new mails.

Test Frontgate. 5MB of RAM running in the background. I prefer Mailfrontier.

Thanks Eldar and iceni60, I'll have a look at both, another of the primary functions is that it must be compatible with Hotmail and Yahoo.

    Cheers :D

In response to your question in another topic. :)
MailNotifier is a program that notifies you when you have new E-mail on a veriety of account types, including Gmail, Hotmail, MSN, Yahoo! Mail, POP3 Mail.

It's not free, but it's really cheap. ;)
