No, Because the VPN I have is US based. I only use it when Im out of country and i want to access Netflix or when one of my family members wants to do that. But im gonna look into VPNs in the next year or so. Possibly get one in Russia and will use one everyday.
Occasionally, because why not? I wouldn't want the same IP (no dynamic router) accessing every website all the time, and that's not even possible with geo-restrictions.
@pi & jryder: would you guys mind doing a short review for us, please? i'd like to hear from a first hand experience, especially from a fellow wilders member. thanks
Excuse my ignorance, but I don't know what a VPN is, and why do I need one. Can anyone explain for me? Thanks in advance.
sure thing. here: http://lifehacker.com/5940565/why-you-should-start-using-a-vpn-and-how-to-choose-the-best-one-for-your-needs http://gizmodo.com/5990192/vpns-what-they-do-how-they-work-and-why-youre-dumb-for-not-using-one
Installation of the Securitykiss software was easy and it caused no problems for me on Windows 8.1 They use 128-bit Blowfish algorithm for session encryption. For the session keys exchange they employ 1024-bit RSA certificates. Session keys are renegotiated once per user per hour. The SecurityKISS Tunnel software (Windows only) is using OpenVPN while there are also PPTP and L2TP options available. The faq are rather in-depth and haven't really had an issue so I don't know how there support is, (but if there anything like the Irish people I know they should be very helpful). You can download a custom installer which includes the configuration and certificates. There are many different servers to choose from, with more being added as they can. The company is based in Ireland. The VPN servers (security gateways) are in the UK, US, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Poland, Sweden and the Netherlands. Securitykiss has a list of "torrent enabled" servers on the select security gateway menu in the GUI. The client is well designed (I will post screen shots soon) One feature that impressed me was the exclusive tunneling, which allows traffic only through the VPN and blocks all other traffic. -http://www.securitykiss.com/resources/articles/exclusive_tunneling/- Plans are pretty affordable - http://www.securitykiss.com/pricing/ I recieved a free Jadeite plan when they were having a giveaway. They also have a free plan which has a limit of 300 mb per day. All major platforms are supported. They do not store logs and are have a great privacy policy, which is important to me.
Only for certain applications. Not for just normal browsing, stuff like I'm doing right now for instance. There's nothing I'm doing now that I care to keep private, so I want my resources and quick page load times. So I use it only when I wish to remain incognito.
