DefenseWall, SandBoxie, + My Brother

    Hello.

    My brother and I share the same PC. He tends to download (I'm not sure how to put this...) "junk" and I don't. In any case, I have the following security set up:

    1. Kaspersky Internet Security 2013,
    2. DefenseWall,
    3. HitMan Pro, and
    4. Malwarebytes (on demand)

    I've seen him click away at "OK" when DefenseWall asks whether or not to allow access and sure enough our pc is infected.

    Would it be an idea to replace DefenseWall with SandBoxie such that no choice is given to him at all?

    Maybe something like Deep Freeze... but one that actually works like Deep Freeze is supposed to work.

    Sandboxie protects your computer, but I think it would be easy to by by editing the configuration file.

    You might take a look at Online Armor Premium. Once you have it setup to allow what you want to run, you can enter a password and then lock the GUI. Once that is done, if something isn't already allowed by Online Armor, it is automatically blocked.

    You can lock the configuration via "Sandboxie Control > Configure > Lock Configuration", but forcing Sandboxie to be used is more difficult in the Free Version.

    Agree. It would be the best solution for OP if he want avoid situation where his brother makes untrusted process - trusted.
    Protecting DefenseWall by password will also prevent your brother from uninstall DefenseWall.

    NoVirusThanks EXE Radar Pro in Lockdown Mode, Lockdown Mode Password protected, Closing of processes also Password protected.

    There ya go, problem solved

    No execution of software, unless password is given.

    Or as Siketa suggested, Shadow Defender :thumb:

    I totally agree, BUT, wait until next release. There is a bug in the password protection that has been identified and will be fixed in the next release.

    The OP has already strong config.
    IMO there is no need to buy one more security application if he can easily configure (post #5) current set to prevent described actions of his brother.

    Either go for Shadow Defender and keep the computer in a constant "shadow mode" or go for NoVirusThanks anti-exe secured with a password...

    Adding a software which saves images of your harddrive so you easily can restore pre-infection images would be handy.

    Also, don't bother looking for any antivirus solutions as they WILL miss the garbage he's installing for sure. Any free AV will suffice.

    Or, if it's possible, get him a new computer he can infect freely. :)

    I agree with Creer. Password protecting KIS, DW, MBAM and using a good imaging software with password protected backup files would solve the problem. Why complicate things when the prob can be solved with what is already available?;)

    .... and with KIS2014 (soon to be released) you will be able to password protect and only allow trusted/known applications to run.
