I was wondering if I could scan my computer without adding a driver running in the background. Hitman Pro and Malwarebytes come to mind but I'm not sure if they have a driver operating in the background after your scanning is finished or not. I don't want any drivers running in the background unless it is required by the Windows 7 system.

    Thanks,

You can do only that much scanning without drivers. For example, you are helpless against advanced rootkits (meaning the scanner wouldn't see them without a driver).
[Not sure if you actually mean a driver, however, because the expression "running a driver in background" is rather weird ;)]

Thanks fblais for the suggestion and thanks 7anon for the answering about Malwarebytes Antimalware's background process. This is why I ask questions at Wilders. There are always people who can answer them.

    Thanks again,
