MigrateEasy = Sysprep + TrueImage ?

Hello,

I'd like to know if it is possible to use MigrateEasy to migrate a full working system from a computer to a different one (different hardware ie. motherboard, hdd, etc...).

I would say no, because of

MigrateEasy is to move from one HDD to Another, it will not backup to any other media.

TrueImage will backup to most media

You can always try, but the odd are it will not work first time, you would have to try a Repair install at the very lest, and IF that worked, you will have to update all the updates again to your Windows OS again.

I did read the FAQ -as you could see by the name of my topic - but I was imaging that MigrateEasy could do the 2 jobs...

In fact, my problem is not TrueImage but is Sysprep, as I'd like to migrate a full working system from a computer to a brand new one

And reading the FAQ let me believe it was possible to do so

as i see it:

migrateeasy is to move/resize partitions between drives (kinda like partition magic)

true image is to backup drives (like ghost)

sysprep is to remove hardware-specific stuff (drivers, kernel etc.) from an existing windows install

so you could use sysprep, then one of the others to do what you want.
