Hehehe, now i installed Norton just to see what happens this time.
Yeah, he always uninstalls it with the same excuse every time, too much pop ups. :ninja:

I've told him that the more you uninstall, the more pop ups will be showing since i just install another AV. (Remember every new software, means new rules) :cautious:

    Removed every security software yesterday.
I was online for 4-5 hours with windows firewall only .
No infections. Hoh my system is very fast now.
AVs are the only thing slowing down my pc:mad: .

Then i installed OA++ . Very fast, simple,no slowdowns:thumb: .Only problem i had is with virus signature update:doubt: .I uninstalled it today.

Now thinking what to add.(Now online just with windows firewall:cool: )

    XP Pro playing machine

    - Running LUA
    - Windows Firewall (behind a router)
    - Data GUard Anti Keylogger FREE

    - Registry tweak via Regedit - taken away create value, create subkey, delete rights of my LUA user of
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Driver Signing
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones

    - Taken away access rights to with XP Pro security tab (use FAJOXPSE when on you are on XP Home, Vista and Windows7 versions have the security tab also in Home version)
    C:\WINDOWS\Tasks
    C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USER NAME]\MenuStart\Programma's\Opstarten
(which is in English problably ....\Programs\Start )

Running Avast super light with no active shields, but Windows warns Avast when an attachement is executed see https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1613167&postcount=2

Running Chromium with the anti executable trick (see for explanation https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1603237&postcount=1 )
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3]
    "1806"=dword:00000003

I changed the default high risk extensions, by adding all the extentions 7-zip handles (dont forget to put in the dot, so it is .ZIP and not ZIP), I discovered you have to include all the defaults as wel (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883260). This post explains which registry you have to tweak http://smallvoid.com/article/ie-attachment-manager.html (scroll to inclusion lists).

Chromium runs with the --safer-plugins switch and the following extentions (on an old machine it is THE fastest loading browser by far)
    - adsweep
    - WOT
    - no NO SCRIPT :argh:

When I want to install software, I switch to the Admin user. Only thing I some times have to do is move the program short link from the ADMIN menustart folder to the All Users menu start folder (allways jump with a parachute, so I have Paragon 10 free as image backup/restore of the Programs Partition and a seperate - off line external harddisk with Syncback SE free for Data partition backup/recovery )

Have not found any malware which was able to cut through this setup

This minimalist setup motto "never have so many bits been protected by so little security code"

Firefox users eat your heart out: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Google/?p=1714&tag=nl.e550 See pic

I guess you could find some option in avast! to not display any pop-ups either... maybe silent mode? Then it's completely automatic with no pop-ups. :D If he uninstalls it then I guess he's retarded. :p

Its obvious as you don't have any AV there will be no scans on execution or accessing the files which requires some main memory
