malwarebytes vs nod32

The only major deviations between Malwarebytes and traditional antivirus software is that we don't unpatch virus patched executables (we do block the viruses that do the patching though) and there is a clear priority system where malware of low detection rates and having a history of bypassing antivirus software get processed first/have more resources delegated to getting 0day with detection .

Our popularity if the help forums and in tech shops is where the success of this mission becomes obvious as the majority of malware related service requests involve bypassed AV software .

 

Thank you, Bruce, for taking time to visit this thread to offer and explanation between MBAM and an AV. What we would appreciate knowing is what the overlap is that is causing the issues with NOD32 AV.
If the MBAM folks cannot offer a plausible solution or explanation, then the onus would be on ESET to run tests on their product against yours.

NOD32 + MBAM and Avira + MBAM seems to be the 2 most popular combos we see in our forums and for the most part no one is having conflicts .

Security conflicts actually have a lot more to do with how you detect and next to nothing to do with the what . The only time the what even has the potential to cause conflicts is when it is blocked by both apps .

One of the problems with testing for conflicts is that we (the researchers and coders) have systems that are more or less set up correctly and for a single purpose . It is hard to replicate the disarray that some systems are in when it comes to lingering legit executable files still having live load points . I have just received a new beta PM system to test out so it should not be long before our next application update is out .

Everyones computer is setup a little different, so software can't be expected to run well for everybody. In this case your setup works well with MBAM. I'm happy for you. Unfortunately your case can't help our situation.

 

Low detection rates? MWB is one of, if not THE, best malware removal programs out there, I do this stuff for a living, as well as many colleagues that do this for a living...cleaning PCs is part of what we do day in and day out, and MWB has proven itself for a long time as being the best and most effective choice for the first tool we reach for in cleaning an infested PC.

We use quite a few tools, and MWB has proven that it gets the most in the first pass versus other products.

Microsoft Security Essentials has also proven itself to be one of the best AV programs in cleaning infested PCs, not only in my personal experience, but in the experience of many other colleagues that do this work day in and day out.

It's amazing at how good a job Microsoft did with MSE.
