Interesting read... it has been a long time since I used SpyBot. :)

    1. Any still familiar with it or even using it nowadays who can make some reflections? :p

    2. I recall and believe this is a light app... is that true?

    3. Any warnings regarding TeaTimer or so, or anything else for that matter that people should know about? I recall seeing some before, but can't remember by now. :D

all these programs will disappear soon.
any antivirus now have a spyware protection and no need to put more pressure on system with these minor programs.

Most AVs do not go as far into the gray area as SpyBot does , most not even close so SpyBot will retain its place .

It looks like the immunization feature has grown a lot since I last used Spybot S&D!
It also has Opera listed for Immunizing in addition to IE and Firefox browsers.:thumb:

I'll bet it's been more than 5 years since I looked at the program.
    It's nice addition though.

This is no surprise from a site that claims IE as the best browser, Zone Alarm as the best firewall, and Ad-Aware as the best malware protection.

I really didn't read your linked articles but only skimmed through them, however, I do want to say that I keep Spybot around because last year, it was the only on-demand scanner that I used that detected that I had the Zlob trojan.

Also, the other day, it detected and removed an Adobe-related problem that I had.

i like it when things like spybot are made freely to people, on the basis they get donations, its more generous, however i begin to feel spybot is more of a golden older software, along with adaware avg and zonealarm, they used to be the great freebies which would keep you safe, nowadays it seems there isnt much need for it, IMO.

    I haven't found a download link either.
It looks like this version is not a public release yet. You need permission to access it if I understand correctly what I read at their forum.
The screenshots of the new version look interesting. I'm hoping that a beta release will be available soon.

I've used SpyBot for years, usually with several other free anti-spyware and anti-malware. It always manages to find something the others don't, not FPs. Can't comment on TeaTimer.

I used it years ago. It never found anything as I remember. I am not sure, but I think I uninstalled it because my AV, maybe KAV, did not like it.

    Regards,
    Jerry

this software is old and good but immunization can slow down internet and teatimer failed to stop most of the zero day threats at these days, in my opinion it is good for on demand scanner for some spyware the big ones missed. In advanced mode has some nice futures can help experts clean and speed up pc....

Spybot is old. But I'm curious to see how much it changes with the new version.
