There is no "free" version of DefenseWall. You can download a 30 day trial at softsphere.com. Note that DW only works on 32-bit systems.
Defensewall and Avast work very well together. I've been running them together for several months with no issues.

Most AVs are poor at detecting and removing rogue apps. You need to be running a HIPS, sandbox or anti-executable program to stop rogues. ;)
