AVG Firewall is enough for outbound connections. What features are you looking for that are lacking in AVG???
AV+FW+BOClean+DefenseWall is enough. If you have paid for BOClean, use it. Otherwise, you can leave it out of your setup.

I choose DefenseWall. I use IE7 with it. No more firefox/opera. No need to go through so much trouble. Very easy to use. Light on resource....

I go with option (a), maybe substitute LNS with Vista Firewall.
Add "No Script" & "Adblock" extensions to your Firefox and you will be fine. Also keep your windows up to date.
