I looked at both the HJT logs in your links. The first doesn't appear to be infected with anything and the second one complains of an orphan...
Also detected by BOClean.
To the best of my recollection, there have been 2 HJT logs posted at DSLR since Feb 2005 by owners of BOClean. Both of these were false alarms.
All the time.
Posters of HJT logs, that are BOClean users, are rarer the hen's teeth.
No, it is recommeded because it is free!
And did you realise that only 16 trojans were used in the tests? The tests are totally worthless and useless.
BOClean is the pre-eminent rootkit detector/killer.
Yes. It is part of the new security measures
Exactly my thoughts.
You don't need the new build, unless you are having problems with high cpu usage.
A bit late if you are rooted :)
That article is misleading. It only refers to rootkits removed by the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, which, as far as I recall, only...
2% is normal for me. In fact, no different from previous builds.
I think you should have added that the install adds about 1MB of temp files, which my tidy mind thinks should be removed.
Thanks Kevin.
Nonsense!
I assume you are referring to this link? http://www.bbspot.com/News/2005/11/sony_photo_sharing.html IT IS SATIRE :)
BOCLean detects heuristically, as well as signatures.
There is very little difference, if any, between CS and MSAS. They share the same code and mostly the same definitions.
I think you will find that BOClean detects rootkits both by signatures and heuristics.
The following is a very good reason. Quote: BOCLEAN GETS SUED FOR "RESTRAINT OF TRADE" In the summer of 2000, the NETBUS trojan was sold...
You could not do better than to buy BOClean. It covers the "normal" trojans, together with the ones that install spyware/adware/malware.
Without doubt: in fact it is far superior.
Thank you one and all. I hadn't seen this thread until it was pointed out to me by Primrose :(
