Well, maybe it doesn't have anything to do with Avira. However, Avira sometimes has a few little bugs on certain pc's so I wouldn't rule it out...

As far as I know, the "system scan" alert displayed in the control center is not happy unless you start a scan from there. It's a bug.

I have some from certain programs (for business use) that are longer than 15. Luckily, I never had to exclude them. ;)

The updates can be made invisible. I also found it to be heavier than Avira's suite, though.
