Money can't always buy talent. Emsi are small, but have very dedicated and talented people. Yeah, it's become the Rodney Dangerfield of AVs. But...
You wouldn't believe how well Avira did, either.

Probably just a freak result, because it was good before. The devs are trying to introduce more proactive stuff now, but they have always been...
Why would Microsoft admit to having cheated if they hadn't?
Yes, dodgy stuff do happen in detection tests, but what are they really boycotting when Kaspersky, who sure can do R&D just fine, make it clear...
@ IBK: Would you please fix the broken link to the false alarm test?
A big jump after the August anti-phishing test.
Since we're not going to convince each other, let's just agree to disagree.
Yeah, and people still put stock into short-term "performance tests". ::)
@7anon: Webroot had 428 FPs in a test, so Avira and G-Data's are reasonably low for this sample size. I have other misgivings about the latter's...
@7anon: Edited the OP to include the Chinese version, sorry. PS. And the false positive problem isn't that bad, really. If they hadn't run away...
Never implied I trust it that much, but some don't cheat.

Then why didn't they apparently even try to hack ZA? Don't think there's much of a pattern here.
I doubt Eset and Bitdefender really couldn't stay alert like Avast did.
Hi hammer, meet nail.
Never mind, maybe I should retract because that's likely far from the last attempt from them, but then it's a more generic security issue so...
New technology always takes some time to get right.
Already discussed in the Avira thread.
Re: Hijacking of AV firms’ websites may be linked to hack on Network Solutions AVG's case was worse. At least Avira users weren't compromised.
Would say Kaspersky was disappointing. Among paid 2014 AVs, only G-Data(!) was below it and even the difference between them was less than 1%.
It's back "up" now, still defaced.
Can't access the home page anymore. Well, at least that means they're working on it.
He/she probably means the "trace" detection.
