Exactly-NEVER leave ext. HD in there unless you're using it. If your computer gets infected then that will be too maybe. It won't be too good then.

That's peculiar-I have an Inspiron 1000 with Logitech wireless & never had any trouble with it OR Acronis. Color me lucky , I guess.

Well ,I always defrag right before a backup on my C: drive but I've read on here you shouldn't defrag the E:/ (external HD) so I don't touch that one.
