To my knowledge the online scanners will not remove nasties, just detect them, and imo KAV's online scanner is the best.

Bitdefender free would be my choice for a backup.
Although I have not tried the new Antivir 7, I would still have to say Avast is the better choice for most comsumers looking for a free antivirus....
Slackware, because it is the most true linux distro out there, and occasionaly Ubuntu, because it's the best distro newcomer.
Avast is better hands down, even the free version. You don't need the pro version to be better than AVG.
