Re: Eset smart security v5 Jumbo Frames Bump up again
Love this reply. It's Beta so of course it's possible as err bugs happen in betas. Come to think of it in final products as well. :) Enjoy...
any support yet for Jumbo Frames yet???
Don't worry most others let this sort of rubbish straight on without a blink until it's too late. Mcafee, Nortons, AVG, Kaspersky all let it on...
Because like Norton's they got a program uninstaller that err doesn't uninstall?? Password needed for uninstall is a new one in stupidity...
I don't take notice of any marketing and not much notice of comparative sites. The job I do involves cleaning students pc's up after they watched...
Checked the change log no mention of a fix for the broken update. I don't really want my os wiped out again after another update.
I wonder if this issue is related as well http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=286832
Yes it a mystery why the startup scan doesn't have this problem only when the update occurs during web browsing. It effects all browsers. Firefox...
To be fair to Eset most companies go this way. Good software gets more popular so the company adds new features increasing bloat and adding more...
Last updated version. Had to remove it otherwise Ubuntu would be destroyed every update. You can't always bring it back from the dead.
Since dmaasland hasn't replied they didn't do a update or trashed the os after an update. Doesn't look like Eset are looking to fix the update...
Not had a problem since disabling scan after an update. Zyrtec try the fix that's discussed in the thread. Surprised Eset haven't looked into...
Nope standard install. Have you tried updating ??
If it is it's very easy to confirm the issue. Just check to see if eset is scanning at the time. If it is that is your problem.
Just a warning. On Ubuntu 10.10 eset corrupts any updates that are downloaded. Dunno if it happens with Red Hat though.
Confirmed on another pc with Ubuntu 10.10.
So if you're running a gigabit network don't use smart security until V5
More info. The problem doesn't happen when you do a full in depth scan.
See my other thread. Nothing to do with pre-releases it's a strange bug with nod which has been around since version came around.
Under 10.10 it corrupts the downloads from update manager which is bad as you end up with a very broken Ubuntu which takes a lot of fixing.
Perhaps we ought to investigate why it kills some machines and not others.
Bump. Any news ???
Just check too see nod is actually doing a scan when the internet effectively dies. If it is you'll need to disable the scan after update option....
Unfortuntalty the options for web browsers isn't present and never has been there.
