I've found that putting a horseshoe and four leaf clover on top of your machine gives:thumb: better protection than MSE.
And Microsoft doesn't build a unified layered system like Avast, Bitdefender, Kaspersky, Comodo, because......? Note the word: unified.

Bit defender on Windows7, no AV on Chrome OS.
One could also use MS's story to say malware samples aren't really enough of a problem to bother having any antivirus software.
Don't know if it's a proper OS but Google Chromebook is very secure.

Bit defender is a thoroughbred, MSE pretty much a jackass. Using BDAVF since Dec. 21 w/zero issues. Former MSE user and haven't looked back.
