Is the Sata disk a new one also or the old one? Have you tried the Restore using the bootable Rescue CD?
Are you using any wireless devices (keyboard, mouse) or multiple usb devices including hubs?
Have you tried making the bootable Rescue CD, booting with it and trying the Backup process from its menu?
If you were able to instal the software, make the bootable Rescue CD, boot with it and try the Backup Image from its menu.
Ah Roxio ... part of the problem might be that you have Roxio's Drag To Disc running in the System Tray.

You don't know which disc ... that's why you start doing the dvd shuffle, so that Acronis can find what you told it to restore.
