Lookout doesn't scan the SD card on-demand.
My test was done on-demand. I can't tell for on-access. I think it can succesfully detect infected applications once you try to install them....
AVG's File Scanner is labeled as BETA. We've contacted them and received a preliminary answer in which they asked for the malware set etc....

In most of the times there is under 1% battery consumption. Very light here.
I think NetQin Security 5.2 is the best in terms of detections and features it offers in the free version. I like it and use it.
They will never put a visual icon on system tray of your Android device, because it may suck battery life. This is their official answer...

Fortunately Cloud scanning and improved HIPS will come, but not in this final version... Regarding the GUI, I like this better than version 10....
There aren't any other changes in Avira 2012, which is why I'm deeply disappointed. They've skipped version 11 and version 12 (2012) should...
I've just made a small test and review. Regarding the on-demand scanner is excelent: I've used 7722 malware samples from July and August 2011....
This is an old thing about Norton. Threats detected by signatures are automatically deleted, they don't have an interactive mode for on-access...
