Can not re-install. Can-not uninstall - No Spyware

My installation hangs as soon as I click next on the "SETUP CONFIGURATION COMPLETE" screen.

It did this on the first attempt. I then tried:

1. (in safe mode) to re-install the software and got an error about a bad
XML file.

2. (in safe mode) tried to uninstall first (so that I could reinstall and it
would either work or at least let me do a proper uinstall so that I could
start with clean install again) but got the same bad XML error

3. Ran HiJack this and after analyzing it, do not see any threats (please
double-check my log below)

Can anyone give me a new idea to try? Would really like to use the product!!!

You are not allowed to post HiJackThis log files because Wilders Security forums no longer provides such logs analysis .

From what I saw in this log , both nod32krn.exe and nod32kui.exe (part of NOD32 ) are running (they are in the running processes) . Do you see the NOD32 icon in the system tray , can you click it/open it , can you update NOD32 ?

Second , no need to post HiJackThis log files because NOD32 doesn't not depends on the machine . Unlikely other products , NOD32 can be installed on infected machines without issues .

If you can't see NOD32's icon and you believe you have had a corrupted installation , I would suggest you to download a fresh copy of NOD32 for your correct operating system
Trial version Full paid version . Install it over the existing installation .

Two other things I would try...

1. Empty out your C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp folder. There could be some junk in there that is not letting the installer read the nod32.xml file correctly.

2. Try downloading a FRESH copy of the installation program from http://www.eset.com/download/index.php and try again. It could be that the package you downloaded got corrupted somehow.

 

"Error: Couldn't open Administrator's XML : nod32.xml" is not an error, it's just a notification that no configuration file with pre-defined settings was found in the install folder.
