After initiating an image of hard disk 3 of my desktop computer, the image process was interrupted with a 500 (0x101F4) error code. The error code was worded as follows: "Failed to write data on the disk. Failed to write to the sector 62,977,591 of the hard disk 3: Retry/Ignore/ignore All/Cancel". I've tried the following: 1) Reformating the partition, 2) Scanning the disk for errors, and 3) restarting the image process three different times without success. Although these errors have not hindered me from proceeding with the image process, I'd rather address the underlying issue to correct this problem, so I can rest assured that my images are viable.

I’m using Acronis True Image 8.0, Build 763. (Due to a login problem I'm having on the Acronis update web site, I haven't been able to update to the current build. Hopefully I'll be able to on Monday after they respond to my email.) I’ve creating images to an Acronis Secure Zone on an external USB 2.0 drive, formatted in NTFS. My OS is Windows XP Professional. Any help is greatly appreciated in helping me to resolve this issue. Thank you.

    Hello jabbok222,

Thank you for choosing Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

We are really sorry for the inconveniences.

Could you please send me a PM with your Acronis request # which was sent to you as an autoreply to the letter you have sent? I will take care of the situation with updates. This error is likely to be fixed in the latest build so we need to solve your issue with updates first.

    Thank you.

I have installed True Image 8.0 today and updated to the latest build. I then ran the program and created an image on my External (USB) HDD. Secure zone creation beckoned and I went throught the procedure according to the on screen prompts. But the 14GB of space is now inaccesible due to, I think, the disk read error which is similar to the title of this thread. I am happy to send a copy of the log file which indicates in detail where the problem is, but there is no clear way to reclaim the secure zone space as it is inaccesible to both Windows XP and Acronis True Image. Any help welcome, thanks

    Hello Maturin,

We are really sorry for the inconveniences.

Could you please download Acronis Report utility available at http://www.acronis.com/files/support/AcronisReport.exe and run it, create a report and send it to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread (and indicate your username on this forum as well please)? This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

    Thank you.
