I received an update from 6.7.129.1 to 6.7.129.2 - based on the numbering it must be a minor update. No update to the changelog so far.

Good old Appguard, I used v.4 for a couple of years, would still be using it if it was cheaper. Pretty much the best bullet proof protection going.

I have version 4.3.14.5 of Appguard on an old Windows 7 PC.

How do I allow an Antimalware software to update the software version with Appguard set at "Protected"?

Periodically my Malwarebytes Antimalware (Lifetime) wants to update and the update fails. I have to download the MBAM offline installer, turn off Appguard and manually install. How do I change the Appguard Settings to allow periodic MBAM software updates?

Also ESET no longer allows updates for Windows 7 so I plan to switch to AVIRA. How do I add AVIRA to Appguard to allow periodic AVIRA software updates while Appguard is set at "Protected"?

    Thanks in Advance.

You can add your security apps as power applications. Here is a link to lots of info about version 4:

Does anyone know if the latest version of AppGuard (version 6.7.129.2) is still incompatible with the latest version of Shadow Defender? Last time I checked it causes Windows 10 x64 to go into an endless loop or something like that. If that's still the case then does anyone know a work around like some exception within AppGuard that can be made?

Ok, Thanks! I may have to find a replacement for Shadow Defender since I don't believe there are any good options to replace AppGuard outside of the Enterprise software world. I may try contacting AppGuard also to see what they say.

I just received an update to 6.7.158.1 - here is what's new from their website (translated):

Notice regarding functional improvements with the AppGuard Solo v6.7.158.1 version upgrade (10/6)

The improved version v6.7.158.1 has been released and will be automatically updated for existing customers.

■Product: AppGuard Solo / AppGuard Home Edition

    ■ Version: 6.7.158.1

    ■ Release date: October 6, 2025

    ■Main updates:

    1. The "Trusted Publishers" settings are now in their own tab, separate from the "User Space" tab.

    2. A new feature called "Code Loading" protection has been added to protect against DLL planting attacks.
*If an update is performed via distribution, the code loading protection will be disabled.

    3. AppGuard now has a "News" feature that displays product news from the developer. The news screen can be accessed from the tray menu, and will automatically appear when new news is released.

    4. A hyperlink has been added to the [About AppGuard] window so that you can directly access the customer support information site.

    ■Release method:

    [About distribution]
*By default, distribution will be notified periodically via a pop-up.
*As distribution is gradual, the timing of availability may vary slightly.
*To update manually, you can do so by selecting "Check for updates now" under "Advanced settings" in the user console.
*New versions are available from the download site.
*If you are still under the AppGuard Solo contract, you can obtain new versions free of charge.

    [Note]
After distribution, a pop-up message will appear asking, "Do you want to download and install now?" Clicking the "Yes" button will start the update to the new version.
After the update is complete, be sure to restart your PC to apply the new version.
*Shutting down may not update the new version.
Reference: How is the AppGuard Solo/Home Edition version upgrade carried out?

I'm definitely liking the changes made. The GUI is no longer horribly cluttered; it's much easier to work with. Time will tell if it is buggy. I have not experienced any problems yet. I wonder if this version is compatible with Shadow Defender and Tor Browser. The previous version was not.

Installer file signed on August 22, 2025. Kind of odd to me.

Having worked for a software developer for many years, that is not odd at all.

Note that is the "installer" file - not the executable. Unless there were changes to the installer file itself, it could easily be months (or longer) older than the actual program files it installs.

My "guess" is the installer file was last modified Aug 22. Then over the next few week, final beta testing was done on the main program files and, with no significant issues noted, the whole package was bundled and released on Oct 6 with no additional changes needed for the installer.

Pretty common scenario, if you ask me.

Agreed. You'll see this a lot with Microsoft files as well.

This is good news and I have been meaning to install this again. I still have a license for it. Now, to remember just how to configure it will be the challenge. :argh::eek:

I ignore about Tor Browser, incompatibility with SD is still there though. Had to restore a disk image to recover functionality. LOL.

Thanks for letting me know! I was going to install Virtual Box and test it in a VM to see if the SD incompatibility still existed. That's a shame! I use to use Shadow Defender all the time and now I have to chose one or the other.

I love SD but it doesn't do anything to stop malicious code from executing and running on your machine. It's for an entirely different purpose. A reboot may remove anything you encounter but it will still be running on your machine until you reboot and that's why they should be used together but unfortunately they can't anymore.

I forgot they got bought by some Japanese company. But I never liked AppGuard, way too complex.

Good to see you on the forums! What is your setup nowadays, are you still using EXE Radar?

I have had Code Load Protection on since installing the update. Just with the default rules, though I run on Lockdown mode and have all trusted publishers removed, so it's probably a little strict :isay:
Only issue I noticed so far is that downloads fail in Brave with the message Virus scan failed. No such issues with Firefox.
