Tried to temporarily put Tinywall in learning mode. Then see if you can do anything that can make VoodooShield have a connection like a triggering an update (I don’t think it should matter if there’s actually one)

CL had like 2-3 services (or was it *.exe) that needed internet for it to run the way it should. At least that's the way I remember it from the last time I used if with Tinywall.

Cyberlock.exe has no problems accessing the internet, it's just CyberLockService.exe that cannot. The program runs just fine but the service is what dials out for the WhitelistCloud, I do believe. I have it set to allow all connections but it still blocks it. I've had this issue with other programs where the "type" is defined as a Service. I may just look for another firewall but I really don't want to.. I've gotten so used to Tinywall.

I once had an issue kinda similar with Emsisoft. The program wouldn’t connect no matter how many times I whitelisted the process.

The solution I found was to leave Tinywall in learning mode (or what other name it may be) and update Emsisoft to prompt a connection.

However if that doesn’t work for you. Then I’m not sure what will. Sorry. Hope you can find a solution.

I think the learning mode did the trick. I thought I had tried that when you first suggested it, but I tried it again and this time the CyberLockService.exe service was able to get a connection. I now have two entries under settings, one for the service and another for the executable (wasn't there before).

Thanks all for the suggestions and help ;)

Cool that it worked. I also had TinyWall blocking stuff from system.exe eventhough I had it allowed non-restricted access. Never thought about using the learning mode.

Has anyone tested TinyWall's boot-time filter to see if it blocks internet access by the MS OS? Specifically, if you allow only the DHCP service, do you see any internet/WAN accesses in your router or hardware firewall logs? @ultim ?

DHCP sends to address 255.255.255.255 using UDP port 67, which is on the LAN, not the WAN.

Great idea, I hope he will also help to develop TinyWall further. But perhaps he's too busy with Sandboxie.

Oh didn't know about this MajorPrivacy app, so it's definitely not looking good. Let's hope he does indeed knows someone else. Now that I think of it, is it allowed for a commercial company to develop TinyWall? Perhaps we can interest NoVirusThanks, who is the maker of the excellent OSArmor?

If I try to open Network & Internet settings,

..could this error be related to TinyWall?

Do you need it unblock? Does your computer connect fine?

Not sure. But maybe try if the special exception setting as an option for that.

Interesting. Is there a setting that will pass all current traffic but allow me to select and block only specific files from communicating?

Hey, so I recently updated the firefox addon - Video Downloadhelper - and it uses a version of ffmpeg.exe to download videos, which requires internet access. Tinywall keeps blocking the connection even though I allow it Unrestricted UDP and TCP traffic.
I tried putting Tinywall into Learning Mode, which solved my last issue, but it's not helping here.

    Any suggestions?

To be honest, I think it might be a bug in TinyWall. I'm seeing the same, even if processes should have unrestricted access, I still get to see connections being blocked. And I don't think all of these connections are being blocked because I use O&O ShutUp 10.

Yes, I'm often getting to see blocked connections from svchost.exe and system.exe, I suppose this is because O&O ShutUp 10 has blocked Windows from sending telemetry. But this doesn't explain why other (third party) processes that have unrestricted access also sometimes get blocked. For example, I had this with JStock recently and it sometimes seems to stop working correctly, I assume because it's getting blocked from connecting to Yahoo Finance. But after restart it then works again.
