    I completely get your point, but my question is, why does this 10 year old topic exist in the first place? I haven't actually read any of the posts, but I assume people ask for advice if it's safe to install certain updates, and some people might have run into problems. And I don't think you can blame all issues on tweaking or privacy tools.

    Exactly my point, and I have read hundreds of these stories the last 20 years. I don't got time for this nonsense. Most of the security holes that are patched on Windows aren't even easy to exploit from remote, so it's much ado about nothing really.

    I totally forgot to tell you this story, but a few weeks ago I had to reset/reinstall Windows, and all of a sudden 7+ Taskbar Tweaker wouldn't work anymore. So I spend 1 hour trying to figure out why it wouldn't work. I disabled all security tools, I tried to run it with admin privileges and in compatibility mode, and installed older versions.

    I didn't even think of some update that perhaps was causing the problem, because 7+ Taskbar Tweaker gets updated to work with even the newest versions of Win 10 and Win 11. So I decided to remove all security updates since I didn't know which one was the culprit, and you guessed it, after reboot 7+ Taskbar Tweaker worked again. What a waste of time.

    Things like that can be frustrating. But I've only ever experienced a single case where an update stopped a program from running. I Googled it and found that an update was causing issues with that software, so I uninstalled the one update that was causing the problems.

    When an update causes issues, people will often post about it. When updates work fine, like they usually do, then they're unlikely to post about it. As a result, it will seem that updates often cause problems, when that's really not the case at all.

    Yes, very frustrating. Apparantly after Windows reset, it automatically downloads a couple of security updates. So I didn't have the chance to block updates yet. But these kind of experiences have made me very skeptical about updates. I can never get that 1 hour back.

    Yes good point, we only hear about the bad stories. On the other hand, not all people who encounter problems will post about it, so the problems caused by updates may be worse than thought.

    People never complain about things that work. Its human nature.

    This also appears to be related to WinRE issues;
    The problem here is "supposedly" only Win 10 was affected by not having enough space in WinRE partition.:rolleyes:

    Yeah, this seems to contain the fixes from the KB5034763 as well. KB5034763 is no longer offered to me via WU, even when I unhid it. It's also not applicable to my PC when I was trying to install it manually to see if they fixed the taskbar issues.

    But then I've noticed that he was replaced by KB5034843

    So no more issues with the taskbar for me after installing it. Great. I thought they will release it during the March Patch Tuesday.

    On March 6, customers in the EEA who have turned on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” feature for Windows Update will get the DMA changes right away.

    no problems for both here. i would suggest to install updates anyway and ask only then, if issues occur, not the other way round. issues always point out that there exist problems you dont know if you haven't tried.

    Not to sound argumentative but he did not really specify if he had installed it or not. Maybe he was having an issue and wanted to identify where it came from. Even if he hadn't, for many the reason to even post here is to possibly avoid an issue beforehand to save the time of having to uninstall or restore a backup when it could have been avoided with a little feedback. As for the question, no, I have not had any issues with the update.

    Win 10 update KB5001716 repeatedly fails to install with error 0x80070643. Leaving it alone for now.
