to mention, if services (3) and tasks (2) are proper set, then you should look into task triggers. maybe set only once for a day but later than announcements here. add more daily triggers.
i just checked for updates (and got it) but the task is performed an hour later.

I am wondering the same thing. I am tempted to go back to Google Chrome at this point.

 

Chrome also has a sidebar called side panel with a button since Wednesday, August 2, 2023 (Chrome 115).

yes. open sidebar, click the three dots and disable.
i have disabled any sidebar with gpo (reg hack in this forum) and thus i dont have see button.

 

That doesn't disable the new button, it just hides the sidebar.

 

that's the purpose of that button, to show/hide the side bar. no side bar - no button. there exist no other option.
(in gpo its called "Hubs Seitenleiste" -> "hubs sidebar")

 

Intersting. I think I see what you mean but for some reason it is not annoying me quite as much as Edge lol. I see Chrome also has themes etc built in now. Nice.

 

I agree, the one in Chrome is less annoying and possibly more useful.

 

then you should remove the "Microsoft Edge" from your signature and switch to chrome. sorry, but such dialogs about comparison which is more annoying or tracking are pretty boring.

to add: any browser has its annoying features, or unwanted features. its on you to change browser like underwear, but who really cares?

as written above all or nothing. but i would be patient because anywhere is rumor about. i cannot compare to chrome or chromium because i removed those for edge. if you want a direct feedback go feedback hub with an app and tell them (microsoft)

I want to believe that Microsoft will allow users to Remove the Sibebar Button from the Toolbar in the Next Release(s) of Edge...

this button is tied to the sidebar, it do same as on/off switch in edge settings. but as long sidebar is not disabled with gpo or similar settings, you will get that button. with the given reg hack, here and reddit, you have no further access to the sidebar.

It still isn't fixed on your system? If I disable the ''Continue running background apps when Microsoft Edge is closed'' setting, Edge closes normally on my Win 10 system. But I'm still disgusted with Edge, apparently it needs to be updated, and now it refuses to let me install extensions until I do so. And it has so many settings, that it's difficult to turn off all the annoyances and spyware. Edge is garbage!
