    Hi @Tigzy :

The latest UCheck Free Portable BETA v5.0.5.0 (offered 16-Nov-2023 in post # 1073) has not fixed the Revo Uninstaller Free Portable problem I described in my 16-Nov-2023 post # 1072 and has actually made the problem worse.

Now the entire Revo Uninstaller Free Portable v2.4.5 folder is missing from the Portable tab of UCheck.

    Just as a comment...

Ucheck has been showing the Google Drive update to version 84.0 for days.

On the official page it still shows 83.0.2.

Today I tried to update from ucheck and it tells me that I already have the updated version and it turns red as indicated in the image.

It's not a problem for me. I only mention it to help improve ucheck.

    Thank you so much

Same issue for me, I had to hide the update. Doesn't google Drive update itself anyway?

Unfortunately I had to rollback some columns saving changes because it was not working properly. I haven't found a way yet to save columns width, so they adjust to the size of the text inside.

I don't understand what you mean here... any screenshot ?

Yes, RevoUninstaller has the keyword "Installer" and therefore was dismissed. For those misleading software, there's an easy workaround, please rename it something like "RevoUninstaller_portable.exe"

Most of the software do, but we still support them anyway. We'll take a look.

If it was the width of the text inside, that wouldn't be so bad, but it is much wider. Oontz Angle 3 ULTRA Firware Update Tool is the longest line in that column.

Ucheck does not show up in the list of portable apps even though it is in my portable apps folder.

Many users are running against filtering problems with portable apps. I even don't understand why there is a filtering for portable apps. If the user defines a folder as a portable apps folder it's up to the user what to put there and what not. Would it be possible to add an option in the settings to turn the filter off/on (Show all executables/use filter)? So everybody can decide to use it or not?

    Just an idea, no criticism!

Because of rule #1, "never trust user input". We can't afford trusting users regarding the upcoming Community feedback for portable apps.
Also the filter is 99% reliable now, I don't think we should rollback for just 1%. Let's get this 1% fixed rather...

EDIT: Also look at where we are coming from. There's a lot of programs containing launchers, uninstallers, DLLs, what not. Those files are now properly filtered out. People have even started asking for exclusions list for them :D

    New BETA: https://download.adlice.com/UCheck/Beta/UCheck64.exe
It should fix all of the mentionned above, some things from PM, and minor other tweaks.

If no critical bug, then it will be released next week.
Then we'll start working on the server-side to handle Community feedback for portable.

EDIT: Regarding the columns width, unfortunately that'll have to wait as there's no easy workaround.

Is there a reason the default sort order for portables is Z->A instead of A->Z ?

If I chose "Open Location" on the vlc-cache-gen.exe it opens the wrong folder. (D:\Data\UCheck_Portables\NirSoft\NirSoft)
If I chose "Open Location" on the vlc.exe it opens the correct folder. (D:\Data\UCheck_Portables\VLCPlayer)

For me, still a lot executables of portable apps from other sources than PortableApps.com are missing (The Nullsoft ones).
Is the filter for "Legal Trademark" already integrated and includes the pattern *portable* ?

I think that's the right thing to do.
I have now 7 portable excluded, but they can wait till next week.

    Thanks

Should be, although it's not on Legal Trademarks but Company Name (Portable.apps)

EDIT: Feel free to submit bugs, I can add them before release. No need a BETA to fix minor stuff.

    Hi @Tigzy :

I'm testing the latest UCheck Free Portable BETA v5.0.5.0 offered 17-Nov-2023 in post # 1085 which I run from a removable USB stick.

Renaming the folder on my removable USB stick from E:\Portable\Revo Uninstaller 2_4_5 to E:\Portable\Revo 2_4_5 did not fix the problem. UCheck is still filtering out the 32-bit RevoUn.exe v2.4.5.0 (at E:\Portable\Revo 2_4_5\86\RevoUn.exe) and 64-bit RevoUn.exe v2.4.5.0 (at E:\Portable\Revo 2_4_5\64\RevoUn.exe).

The keyword "uninstaller" does not appear in the file name of the any of the executables, but I also tried renaming the 86-bit executable from RevoUn.exe to Revo.exe (see debug log below) and UCheck still filters it out of the scan results.

UCheck BETA v5_0_1_0_F Does Not Detect RevoUn.exe Files 17 Nov 2023.png

I don't believe the version number of the RevoUPort.exe v2.0.0.0 "launcher" (in the root at E:\Portable\Revo 2_4_5\RevoUPort.exe) that is not filtered out will change when Revo Unsinstaller Free Portable v2.4.x is updated (i.e., I think RevoUPort.exe v2.0.0.0 is always the LATEST for any Revo Uninstaller Free Portable v2.4.x release) so checking the version number of RevoUPort.exe is not going to tell me if a new program version is available.

Here are the Properties of the 64-bit RevoUn.exe file ...

    Hi @Tigzy :

I'm testing the latest UCheck Free Portable BETA v5.0.5.0 offered 17-Nov-2023 in post # 1085 which I run from a removable USB stick with Administrator rights.

The problem I described in my 09-Nov-2023 post # 905 (i.e., excluding the two bcdboot.exe files bundled with my Dism ++ v10.1.1002.1 portable app) has not been fixed and has actually gotten worse.

When I tried to exclude those file on 09-Nov-2023 UCheck would report the exclusion was successful but the files would reappear in the Installed tab of UCheck (and the exclusion at History & Settings | Exclusions was missing) the next time I launched UCheck.

Now when I try to exclude those bcdboot.exe files on the Portable tab of UCheck it crashes UCheck. Dump files were submitted todaay.

Some applications I would have expected to show up (compared to SUMO detecting them).

digiKam stable is 8.1.0 - 8.20 is beta.
LibreWolf browser 64 bit version installed, wrongly flagged as 32 bits AND they use a weird numbering scheme hence the FP on it.

    Code:
    librewolf-117.0-1-windows-x86_64-setup(v117.0-1).exe
    librewolf-117.0.1-1-windows-x86_64-setup(v117.0.1-1).exe

    librewolf-119.0.1-1-windows-x86_64-setup(v119.0.1-1).exe

The issue with "Open location" does not reproduce on an other machine.

It's really a problem with the file properties because it includes the word uninstaller. I changed it to Test and it's picked up by UCheck:

Thanks Tigzy. Ucheck is now showing on my Portable tab. No big worries on the column widths. This is a nice to have.

Thanks for all the hard work.

I'm still confused, then. UCheck does not filter out my HiBit Uninstaller Portable v3.1.70 app, even though it includes the string "installer" in the Product Name and File Description as well as the file name of the HiBitUninstaller-Portable.exe executable. Why does this "installer" filter discard the RevoUn.exe files of Revo Uninstaller Free Portable v2.4.5 (see the file properties in my post # 1092) but does not filter out the HiBitUninstaller-Portable.exe file shown below?

    UCheck BETA v5_0_1_0_F Detects HiBiiUninstaller-Portable_exe File 17 Nov 2023.png

    Win 10 Pro v22H2 File Explorer HiBitUninstaller-Portable_exe Properties 18 Nov 2023.png

Regardless, I don't feel it's reasonable to expect users to start editing file properties of some of their portable apps to prevent those apps from being filtered out of the UCheck scan results. QuickInstaller (Preview / BETA) supports Revo Uninstaller Free Portable v2.4.5 without any tweaking, but perhaps the developer of QuickInstaller is filtering IN a short list of known portable executables (e.g., CCleaner.exe, CCleaner64.exe, HWiNFO32.exe, HWiNFO64.exe, RevoUn.exe, etc.) that it can automatically update instead of detecting every executable in the custom location and then trying to filter OUT the garbage.
    ________________________________________

I'm also not clear why it's necessary to apply that "installer" filter to portable apps. I download all my portable apps from the original developers website, and none of my portable apps have an installer or uninstaller - you unzip the .zip file of the portable app at any location and run the bundled executable, and when you want to remove the portable app you simply delete the entire folder where it was unzipped.

Is this "installer" filter in UCheck being applied to portable apps because there's something unusual about the "tweaked" portable apps offered on PortableApp.com?

    Me, too.
I don't understand the logic of filtering out some of the portable apps. I even have some apps (not from portableapps.com) that are displayed, and some of them not.

You need to rename the EXECUTABLE. => RevoUn_portable.exe.
It's filtered out because of its version info saying Revo Uninstaller. UCheck thinks it's the uninstaller of some program
